Pegasus Solutions goes back to University

Pegasus Solutions has partnered with the University of Delaware School of Hotel, Restaurant and Institutional Management   to provide hands-on global reservation and distribution training to hospitality and e-commerce students. Beginning this semester, which commenced this week, the University’s next generation of hospitality professionals will receive real world exposure and instruction on Pegasus’ new central reservation system (CRS) known as RezView® NG.  Students will also be able to perform real time bookings through Pegasus’ own Internet booking engine, NetBooker NG.Pegasus has donated use of its leading distribution products as well as on-campus experts for the one-of-a-kind curriculum. As the only program at the university level to offer students the opportunity to engage in practical CRS training, the University of Delaware is demonstrating a commitment to both student development and the hospitality industry, according to Andy Rutter, customer trainer, software, global customer learning department for Pegasus.

“Many hospitality professionals are entering this extremely competitive labor market with limited understanding of global distribution issues, much less any product knowledge or exposure,” said Rutter. “The University of Delaware is ‘showing the love’ to their students by giving the next generation an edge that will help them stand out when entering the workforce. Additionally, the industry can only benefit from having better trained professionals.”

The Pegasus Solutions Training will be rolled out under the guidance of Assistant Professor of Hospitality Marketing and E-Commerce Srikanth Beldona .

“Our students’ understanding of global distribution software will be unmatched by any other higher education institution currently teaching this discipline,” Dr. Beldona added. “Their understanding of hotel rate matrix, dynamic packaging and the sales and marketing of hotels will be enhanced greatly through the analytic process they will complete with Pegasus’ specially created property maintenance module. I love that we can offer this with a platform that is so ahead of the curve.”

The breakthrough University of Delaware program will include a two-hour presentation on Pegasus’ Property Maintenance Module (PMM) and NetBooker NG, eight hours of training on the PMM, and access to RezView NG with pre-built properties for property builds. Additionally, Pegasus is providing training manuals for instructors and participants, and four WebEx trainings to present real business applications of the PMM. Dr. Beldona and Pegasus will also work with students on solving problems using various policies, stay restrictions and inventory control. Students who complete the program will graduate with the distinction of having completed “Pegasus Solutions Training.”
