Cityspace launches iVisit at WTM

Cityspace has announced the launch of
iVisit, a completely new interactive information and transactional
service through indoor or outdoor terminals The first service of its kind, iVisit has been developed to provide the
ultimate visitor assistance at the point of need, indoor or on-street,
offering interactive attraction & tour planning, real-time travel
information with map print outs, and transactional services.

By teaming up with Applied Card Technologies (ACT), the world leading in
smart visitor management systems, at this year’s World Travel Market,
Cityspace is able to demonstrate an entry level tourist solution for
private and public sector organisations requiring wide public access for
new or existing smart card and visitor information schemes.

Applied Card Technologies already power the world’s favourite visitor
destinations such as New York, Edinburgh, Dublin, Las Vegas, Liverpool,
New Orleans, Honolulu and Philadelphia.  ACT’s visitor card programmes
are undoubtedly one of the best ways to build and manage essential
marketing information while offering consumers a seamless integrated
visitor experience.

With digital information and transactional networks deployed and managed
in urban hubs across over 50 cities in Europe , Cityspace has developed
the iVisit service to meet identified need by the tourism industry to
offer a reliable, easy-to-use, 24x7 self-service information and
ticketing system to visitors.

The iVisit concept has been piloted in Merseyside, funded by the Mersey
Partnership to support its drive to promote tourism and increase visitor
numbers to the Liverpool City Region in the run up to its status as the
European City of Culture in 2008.

p>“World Travel Market is an important forum for officially launching
iVisit in 2006,” says Nick O’Connor, director, interactive media at
Cityspace.

“By working with ACT, we’re able to clearly demonstrate the value of
this unique tourism service; its flexibility at managing a range of
smart card administration options in parallel with the raft of valuable,
interactive information services which can be offered at the point of
need.

“Tourists who have planned their trip at home on the internet can use
iVisit on site to update their plans and buy tickets for events and
public transport using a smart card - it’s a truly liberating service
for visitors to any country.”

Crucially, an iVisit Network can support the promotion of tourism sector
organisations by making a destination easier to ‘use’; helping to boost
a local economy by giving clear, accurate and up-to-the-minute
information promoting events, facilities and local attractions.

The iVisit services are delivered through state-of-the-art digital
terminals equipped with touch screen access and broadcast services,
available as both indoor and outdoor options.

“iVisit is the ideal managed service to offer smart card and other
transactional services to the public,” comments Gary Watts, Director,
Applied Card Technologies.

“Cityspace is well positioned to deliver transactional services at the
point of need - something that could really benefit and add value at
attractions, interchanges and other major gateways for visitors.  We are
delighted to be working with them to be able to demonstrate the reality
of smart card technology, available today.”

Visitors to World Travel Market are invited to visit the ACT stand, no.
TT4100 for a live demonstration of the interactive information and
transactional services available on an iVisit digital information
terminal.
