HostelBookers.com takes on igloos

HostelBookers.com today announced the latest in cool for the adventurous with the addition of igloo hotels and villages to its web site. One of many weird and wonderful destinations currently offered by the UK based travel company, the accommodation will be untouched snow until late November. However, bookings figures are expected to be red hot for when the villages open across Europe for the winter holiday season on December 24th.

The igloo village resorts - already popular with the ski and snowboarding enthusiasts - have taken on a wider appeal lately. This year a total of five igloo villages with igloo hotels and igloo bars are being built across Europe. These will include developments in Engelberg, Gstaad, Zermatt, Zugspitze and the ever-popular St. Moritz.

David Smith, General Manager of HostelBookers.com says, “This is a great chance for people to experience something different if they’re planning their winter holidays. The Inuit people have been living in igloos for over 4,000 years, though we’ll admit that the saunas, hot-tubs, and bars are a relatively new feature.”

As well as being a fantastic hub for being close to the slopes for ski action, the igloo staff also work hard to ensure that’s not where the fun stops. Amongst the organised social events residents can enjoy building their own igloos, take guided snowshoe walking-tours, or indulge in movie nights or private parties. The igloo staff often organise exclusive events for companies. In their words, “many things are possible up in the mountains!”
