TGV and Air France embrace SITA e-tickets

Travellers on the TGV, the world’s
fastest train, who wish to connect with Air France flights, will now
benefit from e-ticketing, thanks to an agreement between SNCF French
Railway, and SITA, a leading provider of e-commerce solutions to the air
transport industry.Passengers travelling by TGV will now be able to check-in at seven major
railway stations with e-tickets issued for Air France flights leaving from
Paris Charles de Gaulle airport thus allowing them to avoid the busy
check-in desks on their way to the departures area.

SITA and SNCF have already been providing Interline Through Check-in (ITCI)
for Air France TGV passengers but now for the first time, passengers
checking in with tgvair, the combined air/rail ticket, will benefit from
the convenience of e-ticketing as they pick up their plane boarding pass
prior to departure from the railway station.

SNCF expect a 50 per cent increase in the numbers of passengers using this
enhanced service which will be available to passengers departing on the TGV
from Angers, Le Mans, Lille, Lyon, Nantes, Poitiers and St Pierre des
Corps/Tours, and for those arriving at Charles de Gaulle and continuing
their journey on TGV.

Mireille Faug’re, Chief Executive for Passengers, France & Europe, SNCF,
said, “SNCF is very pleased to partner with SITA in order to make life
easier for our TGV customers and to simplify their travel as we celebrate
the 25th anniversary of TGV. We expect that other airlines will follow Air
France in availing of this new service.”

Richard Stokes, Senior Vice President, Passenger and Travel Solutions,
SITA, said, “We are honoured to be able to make a meaningful contribution
to enhancing the legendary status of the TGV. We are sure that many other
national rail services in Europe will want to offer this type of service as
well especially given the growing congestion experienced by rail travellers
when they arrive at many airports.”
