Emirates Trains 72 Nationals

Emirates, as part of its effort to train
and employ more nationals, presented certificates of appreciation to 72
national summer trainees who completed two-month assignments within various
departments of the airline, at the Emirates Aviation College. Emirates’ summer training programme affords young nationals from the Higher
College of Technology, Zayed University, Government and private schools as
well as universities across the UAE and abroad, opportunities to experience
the work environment within the group and consider the many career options
available.

The students are assessed by the Emirates National Recruitment team in the
Human Resources department. Once selected, they are exposed to real-life
projects in areas as diverse as airport operations, procurement and
logistics and human resources.

At the presentation ceremony, Fahad Al Hassawi, Emirates’ Vice President
Human Resources (Employee Services), said: “This initiative provides young
nationals the opportunity to have a first-hand experience of the job
environment at Emirates and is an important part of our company’s investment
in the local community.”

“Once again this year, the programme has been a big success. I am impressed
with the high calibre of the young Emiratis participating and taking full
advantage of the programme. They form a pool of trained and talented
nationals which the company can draw on.”

This year, Emirates will train approximately 500 UAE nationals in full-time
positions in line with its commitment to national recruitment and the
government’s initiatives. The airline runs training programmes for national
graduates, pilots, cabin crew and flight engineers.
