Tiscover Drives Traffic to Jedburgh

Tiscover has boosted online consumer presence for the Scottish border town of Jedburgh following the launch of the Jedburgh Tourism Forum websites (www.jedburghtourism.co.uk and www.tiscover.co.uk/jedburgh) both powered by Tiscover.  Jedburgh commissioned Tiscover in December 2004 to provide additional distribution channels for its European customer base. Tiscover went live with www.tiscover.co.uk/jedburgh one month later, followed by www.jedburghtourism.co.uk in March 2004.

Jedburgh Tourism Forum, which has already achieved over 15,000 click-throughs in the first weeks of 2005, allows visitors to book online with hotels, B&Bs and self-catering cottages. The tourism partnership also offers free local training support to ensure businesses are maximising the portals’ potential.

Charles Masraff, chairman of the Jedburgh Tourism Forum, says: “Jedburgh wanted to expand its reach to web users both in the UK and throughout Europe. Choosing to work with Tiscover provided us with the skills and experience of the world’s leading destination system provider and connects us with Tiscover.com, one of the top travel portals in the world.

“The Jedburgh Tourism Forum is a fantastic e-brochure that will help local companies build business. The Jedburgh site acts as an e-brochure for the area, combining maps, live hotel booking capabilities, attraction information and seasonal event guides. This, combined with the fast page-load times of the Tiscover05 system, is resulting in an increased profile for the destination on the web.”

Karsten Kärcher, managing director of Tiscover UK Limited, said: “Tiscover’s work with Jedburgh proves that there is strong potential to market directly to UK consumers and Europe as a whole.
