Barclaycard adds train booking tool to travel expense applications

Barclaycard Commercial has launched a web-based rail travel booking tool which allows businesses and their employees to pay for train travel using a single-use virtual card.

The new tool – developed in conjunction with MyTrainTicket for Business – consolidates rail spend across the business, giving companies greater visibility and control over their travel expenditure, benefitting from the savings that brings.

The online self-booking tool streamlines the purchasing process to save employees and businesses time, with tickets available for collection within 15 minutes of booking.

Spend data is also easily uploaded to accounting and expense management systems, automating cost reconciliation and overall reporting on rail spend.

A new addition to Barclaycard’s award-winning Tracker Solutions suite - which covers other essential areas of business travel expenditure – hotels, low-cost flights, meetings and events – the virtual card approach of Rail Tracker makes payments secure and minimises the risk of fraud.

Dennis Bauer, managing director of Barclaycard Global Commercial Payments, said: “Travel can be one of the biggest expenses for business, with forecasts showing that UK companies’ rail travel costs could amount to £2 billion this year – not including administration costs.

“Barclaycard is committed to providing innovative and industry leading payment solutions to make our customers’ lives easier and, along with our existing Tracker applications, the Rail solution will help businesses effortlessly capture, control and reconcile travel spend.”
