American Cruise Lines unveils river itineraries
American Cruise Lines Presents The Ultimate American River Adventure Two authentic paddlewheelers offer multiple itineraries on America’s great rivers
American Cruise Lines has unveiled plans for its special river cruise offering – The Ultimate American River Adventure by American Cruise Lines. Combining several cruises together, passengers will be able to experience the true American Heartland on the Mississippi River and the Great Pacific Northwest on the Columbia and Snake Rivers.
Queen of the West, an authentic 120-passenger paddlewheeler operates on the Columbia and Snake River in the Pacific Northwest of the United States, while Queen of the Mississippi, a brand new 150-passenger paddlewheeler currently under construction will cruise the Mississippi River beginning August 2012. Queen of the West is currently the only overnight operating paddlewheeler in the U.S., while Queen of the Mississippi will be the first ship built specially for the Mississippi River in nearly twenty years.
“We recognize a surge in interest to cruise America’s rivers,” said Timothy Beebe, Vice President, American Cruise Lines. “Authenticity and comfort are key and we aim to show our guests this great country in a way that’s never been done before. The Ultimate American River Adventure is a continuation of that promise and a step towards the Company’s increased focus on specialty river cruising in the U.S.”
Aboard Queen of the West on the Columbia and Snake Rivers, passengers will take an unforgettable journey along the legendary rivers that helped shape the West. On this unique itinerary, passengers will follow in the footsteps of the legendary explorers Lewis and Clark, while discovering the natural wonder, native lore, pristine wilderness, and rich history along this epic course. The Queen of the Mississippi will boast 80 staterooms larger than those on any former Mississippi riverboat, spacious private balconies and all of the amenities today’s travelers expect. A number of 7-, 10-, and 14-day cruises are planned that take passengers as far north as St. Paul, MN on the Mississippi River and as far east as Pittsburgh, PA on the Ohio River.
