Amadeus Japan and Etihad Airways celebrate launch of flights to Narita

Etihad Airways and Amadeus Japan K.K, a leading travel technology partner and transaction processor for the global travel and tourism industry, hosted a joint seminar and cocktail reception at The Ritz-Carlton Tokyo on 17 February 2010, to celebrate the launch of Etihad’s flights to Narita airport in Tokyo, and share current industry views. More than 130 travel agency guests attended the event to learn more about Etihad’s plans for its Narita – Abu Dhabi direct service, with the first flight set to touch down on March 27, 2010. This follows the launch of Etihad’s flights between Abu Dhabi and Nagoya earlier this month.

During the seminar, Etihad introduced the guests to its range of in-flight services and offered the latest information on bookings and fares. Amadeus Japan also demonstrated the ease with which Japanese travel agents can book Etihad flights using the Amadeus distribution system.

David Brett, President of Amadeus Asia Pacific, said, “Amadeus has partnered with Etihad for many years. We give travel agents access to book Etihad flights as the exclusive distribution partner for the Arab Air Carriers Organisation (AACO), as well as IT solutions that power Etihad’s website. Etihad has also adopted Amadeus’ Altéa Customer Management System to manage all passenger processes from booking to check-in and baggage control. We look forward to supporting their entry into Japan as we have in many other markets, to help drive their rapid international growth. Our businesses share many synergies as visionary, innovative, industry-leading companies in our own fields and we look forward to working very closely with the Etihad team in Japan.”

Miho Ohtake, General Manager, Amadeus Japan K.K. said, “Amadeus is honored to co-host this seminar with our partner Etihad Airways and contribute to their sales expansion in the Japan market. Amadeus-subscribing travel agents in Japan will now be able to conveniently book Etihad flights and manage the passenger name records under the same system as the airline, since Etihad is operating on the Amadeus Altéa Reservations System. We congratulate Etihad on the milestone achievement of their new flights to Narita, following the launch of their flights to Nagoya, and are confident they will achieve great success in this market.”
