All Nippon Airways warns of strike action

ANA Group has confirmed its pilot unions have threatened a 24-hour strike on October 1st 2011.

The airline continuing urgent negotiations with the unions concerned to avert industrial action and the disruption to passenger services it will cause.

Should the strike go ahead, ANA says it will do “everything possible” to minimize the impact on passengers and services.

No international flights are expected to be affected.

However, domestic flights could be subject to cancellation and/or delay.

Passengers intending to take ANA domestic flights on October 1st should check the status of their flights on ANA Sky Wed.

An ANA spokesman said: “We are very disappointed that our four pilots unions have threatened to take strike action.

“This action is unnecessary and will prove disruptive.

“We have put forward a fair set of proposals with the pilots unions.

“ANA Group will continue urgent negotiations with the unions to avert a strike.2

Pilots are seeking improved crew training programs.

If the strike goes ahead, ANA said approximately a quarter of flights would be disrupted.
