Alfy assumes leadership of Travelport operations in Egypt

Travelport has appointed Mervat Alfy as its new country manager for Egypt.

Alfy comes to Travelport with a wealth of regional experience having held the position of Egypt country manager for British Airways for the past seven years.

In her BA career she accumulated over 20 years’ successful experience in the field, starting as a sales agent.

Alfy also introduced ba.com payments online as well as e-tickets to Egypt, demonstrating an affinity for technology and making her a great choice for Travelport.

She will be based in Cairo and will sit on Travelport’s Africa, Middle East and South Asia management team, reporting directly to Rabih Saab, Travelport managing director for the region.

Alfy will replace Tarek Bassiouny, who has led Travelport operations in Egypt since its initiation in the country in 2009.
