TAP Air Portugal takes off for Banjul, the Gambia
With this new route, TAP has once again expanded its operation to Africa, adding one more country and one capital to its network of destinations on the African continent.

New tourism minister for The Gambia
The government of The Gambia has appointed the Hamat Bah to the role of minister of tourism, effective immediately. Tourism is of great importance to the Gambian economy and Bah, who has previously worked in the tourism sector, will look into new ways to develop the industry to increase its contribution to the economy in order to raise the living standards of Gambians.

FCO advises against travel to The Gambia as political situation deteriorates
The British Foreign & Commonwealth Office has changed its level of advice to The Gambia and now advises against “all but essential” travel to the country. The decision comes as Gambian president Yahya Jammeh declared a 90-day state of emergency a day before his official mandate ends.

Gambia Tourism makes play for UK travel trade
Leading travel and lifestyle PR and marketing consultancy Hills Balfour has started working together with Gambia Tourism Board to manage its PR in the UK with additional marketing support. The consultancy’s core PR objectives are to increase visitation to the country specifically during the summer season and to promote the destination’s proximity to and direct access from Europe.
