Honeywell today announced a new, innovative ethanol-to-jet fuel (ETJ) processing technology that allows producers to convert corn-based, cellulosic, or sugar-based ethanol into sustainable aviation fuel (SAF). Depending on the type of ethanol feedstock used, jet fuel produced from Honeywell’s ethanol-to-jet fuel process can reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by 80% on a total lifecycle basis, compared to petroleum-based jet fuel.1

Turkish Airlines signed Global SAF Declaration

Starting to actively use Sustainable Aviation Fuel during its operations as of 2022, Turkish Airlines emphasized the importance of the matter for the company by signing Global SAF Declaration.

Korean Air to use Shell’s sustainable aviation fuel from 2026
Korean Air has recently signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with global energy company Shell to purchase their sustainable aviation fuel (SAF). The MOU explores the supply and purchase of SAF from Shell at major airports in Asia Pacific and the Middle East from 2026 for five years.

SWISS and Breitling team up to promote sustainable fuels
SWISS and Swiss watch manufacturer Breitling have entered into a new partnership which is the first of its kind in Switzerland. Under the new arrangement, Breitling will purchase sustainable aviation fuel for all its work-related travel on SWISS.

Lufthansa Group and OMV sign MoU
The Lufthansa Group and the global energy and chemicals group OMV have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the supply of more than 800,000 tons of SAF for the years 2023 to 2030.
