Westin expands into South America
Accelerating its global portfolio growth, Starwood Hotels has opened its first Westin hotel in South America – The Westin Lima Hotel & Convention Centre in Peru. Starwood moves into all-inclusive in Costa Rica
Starwood Hotels has confirmed the opening of its first all-inclusive resort – The Westin Resort & Spa, Playa Conchal in Costa Rica. The property formerly known as the Paradisus Playa Conchal Resort will begin renovation on the hotel’s 406 spacious suites and all public areas, which will be conducted in phases through December 2011.
Luxury Collection Hotels Announces Chatwal as its First Property in NYC
Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide Inc. has signed a license agreement with The Chatwal New York, an 83-room property in Manhattan’s Theater District, marking The Luxury Collection brand’s debut in New York. The addition of The Chatwal New York also represents another milestone for Starwood with New York City becoming the first and only city in the world to boast all nine of its distinctive and iconic brands: Sheraton, Westin, Le Meridien, W, St. Regis, The Luxury Collection, Four Points by Sheraton, Element and Aloft.
Starwood Hotels sees profits slip despite revenue rise
Profits at Starwood Hotels & Resorts slid slightly over the first quarter, despite a rise in revenue, as the organisation was hit by one time costs including the Japan earthquake. For the period that ended March 31st, Starwood reported net income of $28 million, or 14 cents per share, down from $30 million, or 16 cents per share, a year earlier.
