Saudi Tourism Captivates WTM 2024 with New Destinations and Strengthened Global Partnerships
The Saudi Tourism Authority has concluded three successful days at the World Travel Market London (WTM) 2024, following a year of unprecedented growth. During WTM Saudi further cemented its position as the fastest-growing tourism destination in the G20 after jumping 15 places in the UN Tourism destination ranking for international receipts - the largest upward movement in the Top 50. Led by His Excellency Ahmed Al-Khateeb, Minister of Tourism, and joined by Fahd Hamidaddin, CEO of the Saudi Tourism Authority (STA), the Saudi Pavilion hosted 61 partners across Saudi’s tourism ecosystem, spanning its diverse regions and offerings, including destination managers, tour operators, hotels, entertainment companies, airlines, and cruise companies.

The Minister of Tourism and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Saudi Tourism Authority (STA), His Excellency Ahmed Al-Khateeb, officially opened the Saudi Pavilion on the first day of the 2024 World Travel Market (WTM), with Saudi Tourism Authority CEO Fahd Hamidaddin, and UK Minister for Tourism Sir Chris Bryant. With an on-stand celebration, His Excellency inaugurated Saudi’s newest coastal tourism destination - the Saudi Red Sea. NEOM, Amaala, Red Sea Global, Jeddah Historical and KAEC, were among the coastal destinations that were present on stand, showcasing the rich offerings of the new super destination.

The delegation includes key entities such as the Ministry of Tourism, the Tourism Development Fund, ASFAR, Cruise Saudi, Saudia, Riyadh Air, Red Sea Global, Diriyah Company, the Royal Commission for AlUla, and visionary projects like NEOM. Cultural and entertainment highlights, including Riyadh Season, MDL Beast, and Qiddiya will also be represented, showcasing Saudi’s diverse offerings and investment in tourism innovation. For the first time at WTM, 17 international and local hotel brands will join the Saudi delegation, making this the largest number of hotel partners in the Saudi Pavilion.

First Saudi Protected Area Listed on IUCN Green List
The Saudi National Center for Wildlife (NCW) is announcing that the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) has included the Ibex Reserve in its exclusive Green List of Protected and Conserved Areas. The Ibex Reserve, which is managed by the NCW, becomes the first reserve in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to meet all the required criteria and indicators to join the list, which includes less than 80 reserves out of over 300,000 protected areas worldwide.
