Ryanair announces new Dublin route to Bremen
Ryanair, Europe’s only ultra-low cost airline (ULCC), today announced it will launch a new route from Dublin to Bremen in September 2013. Ryanair celebrated its new Irish route by launching a 100,000 seat sale at prices starting from €19.99 for travel across its European network on Mon, Tues, Wed and Thur in April, which are available for booking until midnight Mon 4 March.
Ryanair plans Stansted cuts
Ryanair is planning to cut its London Stansted traffic by 9% over the coming year (from 12.5m to 11.4m) after what it describes as ‘a further unjustified increase of Stansted’s already high charges of 6% from April 2013’.
Ryanair to appeal EU Commission decision blocking Aer Lingus takeover
Ryanair has confirmed it will appeal the EU Commission decision to prohibit its latest offer for Aer Lingus. The low-cost carrier claimed it offered an “historic” and “unprecedented” remedies package that included not one, but two upfront buyers to take over approximately half of Aer Lingus’ short-haul business.
Ryanair loses ash cloud compensation case
Ryanair should have compensated a passenger who saw their flight cancelled following the Icelandic volcanic ash cloud in 2010. A ruling by the European Court of Justice found there is no limit in the duty of an airline to look after passengers during such an incident.
Ryanair boosts 2013 earnings expectations
Low-cost airline Ryanair has increased profit forecasts for the full year after figures came in ahead of expectations for the final three months of 2012. The Irish carrier reported an €18.1 million profit after tax in the three months to December 31st, a figure up 21 per cent on a year ago.
Ryanair insists one bag rule is safety driven
Ryanair has sought to explain its controversial one carry-on bag rule, insisting it is necessary for safety reasons. The move was prompted “false claims” made by a number of “poorly briefed” members in the European Parliament, Ryanair said.
Record year for low-cost carrier Ryanair
Irish low-cost carrier Ryanair carried a record 79.6 million passengers in 2012, making it the second largest carrier in Europe in terms of passenger numbers. In December, the budget airline carried 4.84 million passengers, and its load factor was up two percentage points year-on-year to 81 per cent.
Ryanair to introduce 6 new routes
Ryanair today announced significant summer 2013 growth in Scotland, with 38 routes (6 new) at Edinburgh and 27 routes (2 new) at Glasgow Prestwick, which will deliver a combined total of over 3m passengers and sustain over 3,000* “on site jobs” at both Edinburgh and Glasgow Prestwick airports.
Ryanair introduces 2% credit card fee
Ryanair has announced that in order to comply with the UK Office of Fair Trading’s recent ruling on credit card fees it will introduce an avoidable 2% credit card processing fee on all new credit card bookings made from 30 November, to cover credit card payment costs.
Ryanair cuts Budapest flights
Low cost carrier Ryanair is making 40% cuts at its Budapest base with the closure of 10 routes and loss of over 280 weekly flights from 10 Jan 2013. The move will result in 800 job cuts, according to the carrier.

Ryanair has called on the EU to scrap its failed EU ETS scheme, after it was forced to ‘exempt’ foreign airlines from the scheme after staunch opposition from US and Asian airlines and governments.
Ryanair extends reserved seating
Europe’s low cost carrier is extending its popular reserved seat service from 4 to 6 rows by adding rows 5 & 15 on all aircraft from today, which will allow even more passengers to reserve their preferred seats on 6 reserved rows.
