Abu Dhabi remains right on track to attain its 2012 hotel guest target of 2.3 million with figures just released by Abu Dhabi Tourism & Culture Authority showing a 15% guest arrivals increase in the first eight months of this year compared to the same period in 2011. From January to the end of August, 1,551,888 people stayed in Abu Dhabi’s 130 hotels and hotel apartments accounting for 4,393,820 guest nights.

Chinese carrier Sichuan Airlines is to launch a three times weekly link between its Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport and Melbourne Airport in Australia. The route announcement follows lees than six months after the two gateways announced a sister airport partnership during the Routes Asia conference, which was hosted by the Chinese city in April this year.
Routes 2012: Estonian Air to offer London City services from 2013
Baltic national carrier Estonian Air is to start serving London City Airport from spring next year when it resumes services to the UK capital. The carrier has announced it will inaugurate flights between Tallinn and London City on March 1st, 2013 having previously offered flights to London Gatwick.
Routes 2012: Air Cote d’Ivoire prepares for launch
New African start-up Air Cote d’Ivoire has announced its initial network plans after the Abidjan-based carrier took delivery of its first aircraft earlier this month. The new carrier, a joint venture between the government of the Ivory Coast, Air France and the Aga Khan Fund for Economic Development says it plans to initially start operations from the end of October, at the start of the Northern Winter schedules.
