Kenya’s east African affairs, and tourism cabinet secretary, Phyllis Kandie, has welcomed Qatar Airways’ decision to increase its frequency between Doha and Nairobi by adding four additional weekly flights to and from the capital city.  Beginning September 1st, 2013, the airline will increase its A320 aircraft flights to 18 flights per week, up from the current 14 flights.

Effective September 1st 2013, passengers flying Qatar Airways routes worldwide will have enhanced baggage allowances with additional baggage weight allowed per person. Economy weight allowances have increased from 23kg to 30kg while Business and First Class have each increased from 30kg and 40kg to 40kg and 50kg respectively.

Qatar Airways has announced plans to extend its Boeing 787 Dreamliner route network to India with the launch of services to and from Delhi and Bangalore starting September 1st. Commenting on the decision, Qatar Airways chief executive Akbar Al Baker said: “In line with our commitment to offer our passengers the most exceptional travel experience, we are delighted to introduce Qatar Airways’ Dreamliner on two of our important Indian routes.”

Beginning September 3rd, Qatar Airways will begin thrice-weekly scheduled flights to and from Chengdu, a major economic centre of western China. The Doha–Chengdu route will also mark ten years of Qatar Airways services to China, with the city joining Beijing, Guangzhou, Hong Kong, Shanghai and Chongqing as the airline’s sixth gateway into the country.

Qatar Airways is set to begin three-flights-a-week to Ethiopia’s capital and largest city, Addis Ababa, on September 18th, 2013. The new service from Doha to Addis Ababa will be operated with an Airbus A320 in a two-class configuration of 132 seats in Economy and 12 in Business Class.
