Avis signs Privilege Club deal with Qatar Airways

Avis Car Rental has announced a new multi-year partnership with Privilege Club, the frequent flyer programme of Qatar Airways. The deal means Privilege Club members can earn from 500 Qmiles up to 800 Qmiles, for every rental booked. Privilege Club members can then redeem their Qmiles against a selection of benefits, including complimentary flights, upgrades and excess baggage on Qatar Airways flights, together with purchases made at Qatar Duty Free located at Hamad International Airport in Doha or Oryx Galleria boutique in Doha, Qatar.

Qatar Airways will introduce a second Airbus A380 aircraft on the London Heathrow to Doha route from July 1st 2015. It will replace the current A330 aircraft which operates the sector. The arrival of the second A380 on the Doha-to-London service reinforces Qatar Airways’ presence in the United Kingdom, with six flights a day between the two cities in addition to daily direct services from Doha to Edinburgh from May and double daily services to Manchester.

Qatar Airways has strengthened its relationship with fellow oneworld member S7 Airlines, with the implementation of additional code-share routes across its network. Qatar Airways first launched a code-share agreement with S7 Airlines late last year, allowing Qatar Airways’ passengers travelling from Doha to be able to connect onto destinations with S7 Airlines including Chelyabinsk, Kazan, Omsk, Perm, Rostov, Saint Petersburg, Samara, Sochi, Tyumen and Yekaterinburg.

Qatar Airways will launch flights to Zanzibar, the airline’s third gateway in Tanzania after Dar es Salaam and Kilimanjaro. From July 1st, the new five-times-a-week flight to Zanzibar will operate via Kilimanjaro. The current Kilimanjaro flights which today are served by Qatar Airways via Dar es Salaam will be made non-stop from Doha to Kilimanjaro, with return flights from Kilimanjaro to Doha served via Zanzibar.

Qatar Airways has purchased the Sheraton Skyline hotel in the UK, one of the best-located hotels for travellers using Heathrow Airport and a perfect base for a trip into central London or the rest of England. The hotel will continue to be managed by Starwood under the Sheraton brand. The Sheraton Skyline is the first hotel to be bought by Qatar Airways outside of Qatar, where it owns the five-star Oryx Rotana Hotel in Doha and runs the new Hamad International Airport Hotel, which includes squash courts and a swimming pool.

Qatar Airways has extended its Boeing 787 Dreamliner route network to Tunisia with the launch of services to capital city Tunis. The increase in demand in the region and the airline’s steadfast commitment to the Tunisian market has resulted in the introduction of the state-of-the-art Dreamliner on the daily flights between Doha and Tunis. The move brings an additional capacity of more than 92 per cent compared to the A320 which was being operated on the route.
