The Ascott boosts China offering with Wuxi properties
CapitaLand’s wholly-owned serviced residence business unit, The Ascott, has entered Wuxi in China by securing contracts to manage two serviced residences in the city. The 134-unit Ascott Central Wuxi and 169-unit Somerset Wuxi are slated to open in the second half of 2015. The new properties in Wuxi will further strengthen Ascott’s leadership position as the largest international serviced residence owner-operator in China with more than 8,600 apartment units in 48 properties across 19 cities.
Capri by Frasers expands into Vietnam

Hyatt Regency Amsterdam to open in 2015
Hyatt Hotels Corporation, Aedes Real Estate and UBM Realitätentwicklung AG announced today their affiliates have entered into an agreement for a Hyatt Regency hotel in Amsterdam, which is expected to open in 2015. Hyatt Regency Amsterdam will be the first Hyatt Regency hotel and the third Hyatt-branded hotel to open in the city, joining the recently opened Andaz Amsterdam and the late-2013 opening of Hyatt Place Amsterdam Schiphol Airport.

DoubleTree by Hilton to open two new London hotels
DoubleTree by Hilton has announced it will open two new hotels in London this summer under franchise agreements with Westmont Hospitality. The latest additions are DoubleTree by Hilton London - Hyde Park and DoubleTree by Hilton London - Ealing, both of which are in the final stages of extensive refurbishments totalling £20 million, joining seven other DoubleTree by Hilton properties across the capital city.
ONYX brings Amari brand to Indonesia with Bali property
Thailand-based ONYX Hospitality Group has been appointed to operate a 435-room property on the Indonesian island of Bali. Amari Pecatu is a joint venture between STA Group Property Division and PR Bali Pecatu Graha.
Shaza reveals expansion plans at Arabian Travel Market
Shaza Hotels has confirmed it will increase its presence in the Middle East with a new project set to open in Doha. Opening in spring 2016, Shaza Doha, will be located in the heart of the cultural district, within walking distance of major tourist attractions, including the famed Museum of Islamic Art, the Qatar National Museum and Souq Waqif.
Anantara expands operations into Qatar
Minor Hotel Group has continued with its strategic expansion in the Middle East with the announcement of its first hotel in Qatar. Anantara Doha Island Resort & Spa is a 141 key five star resort in the Arabian Gulf, just off the coast of the country’s capital Doha, and will open early in 2014.
Ritz-Carlton expands portfolio with Rabat property
Ritz-Carlton Hotels has unveiled plans to open its first property in Rabat, the prestigious capital city of the Kingdom of Morocco, which will become the third property in the brand’s growing North Africa portfolio. The owner of the urban resort is Sienna Investment Group, an investment vehicle established in Morocco.
Marriott reports strong increase in Middle East sales
Together with the Marriott International, 2013 first quarter results, which reported a 31 per cent increase compared to first quarter 2012, the company has announced an 11.2 per cent increase in RevPAR figures across the Middle East and Africa for first quarter compared to the same period in 2012. Driven predominantly by a 4.1 per cent growth in first quarter occupancy for the region, the company’s quarterly results clearly demonstrate global traveller’s desire to stay at Marriott International properties, comprising some of the world’s strongest and most respected brands.
Jumeirah Messilah Beach Hotel to begin soft opening
Jumeirah Group has announced the soft opening of Jumeirah Messilah Beach Hotel and Spa, as of May 7th. Jumeirah’s first hotel in the Gulf region outside the United Arab Emirates is situated along the shores of the Arabian Gulf, close to Kuwait City’s business and financial centre and only ten minutes drive from Kuwait International Airport.
