Network Rail this week launched a new safety education campaign - ‘Live Wire’ - to increase awareness among schoolchildren about railway electricity and how to stay safe around the railway.

Satisfaction with train services on the South West Trains network overall continues to be high at 81%, which is consistent with the average for other train operators in London and the South East.
Network Rail responds to ORR draft determination
Responding to the Office of Rail Regulation’s draft determination for control period 5 (2014-19), a Network Rail spokesperson said: “We welcome today’s draft determination from the Office of Rail Regulation setting out their proposals for the funding and investment the railway will need for the five years to 2019.
Virgin Rail takes action against Network Rail over breach of contract
Virgin Rail Group has issued a demand that millions of pounds of customer-focussed improvements be made by Network Rail to compensate customers for poor punctuality in recent months. VRG, the owning group of Virgin Trains, is also preparing enforcement action to bring punctuality improvements, following sustained poor performance by Network Rail, which VRG believes is a breach of contract and has deterred some customers from travelling and damaged its business.
