Network Rail retail sales continue to outperform the market
Network Rail today released station retail sales results showing a 6.4% growth in like-for-like sales from April to June 2013. In the same period high street sales, reported by the British Retail Consortium, increased by 0.4%, meaning retail sales in stations continue to outperform the high street.
Network Rail ERTMS testing takes off
Network Rail’s testing programme for cab signalling has enjoyed a successful start and has entered its second phase at the test centre in Hitchin. The European Rail Traffic Management System and its signalling component ETCS (European Train Control system) will form the basis of future signalling schemes on the network.
National train performance for period 6 is 92.3%
Punctuality on the railways reached 92.3% during Period 6, according to monthly performance data released today by Network Rail. The data for Britain’s train services covers the period from 18 August-14 September 2013. This compares to 94.0% for the same period last year. The moving annual average is now at 90.7%
Network Rail submits plans for faste across the North England
Plans to deliver faster, more frequent rail travel across the North of England progressed today as Network Rail submitted an application for a new link connecting Manchester’s Piccadilly and Victoria stations – the Ordsall Chord.
Network Rail responds to ORR draft determination
Network Rail today published its response to the Office of Rail Regulation’s draft determination for the period 2014 to 2019, CP5. Dartford Station, UK investment delivers a better railway for passengers
Passengers in Dartford are benefiting from a £7m investment in the town’s railway station. New facilities include a new station building complete with an improved ticket office as well as fully accessible toilets and a more open concourse and station entrance.

Green light for Nottingham as £100m rail investment completes on time
After five weeks of around-the-clock effort, six miles of new track, 143 new signals, a new platform, the work of 2,000 people and over 30,000 bus movements, a full train service has begun again at Nottingham station. Network Rail’s £100 million investment in the railway through the city has seen its 1960s-era signalling and track pulled up and replaced with modern equivalents to a new, more efficient and flexible design.
