First 10-car trains to run between London Waterloo and Windsor
South West Trains has started running the first ever 10-car regular passenger trains between Windsor and Waterloo. The 10-car service left London Waterloo at 05:58 this morning and returns from Windsor at 07:23. It will now be used to operate 14 different train services between London Waterloo and Windsor every weekday, offering an extra 28 carriages per day on this route.
Network Rail: Work progressing well at 80m Botley landslip
Work to rebuild the railway at one of the worst landslips ever seen on the network is well underway at Botley in Hampshire. A project has begun to completely rebuild 80metres of railway at the largest of three landslips in the area.

Network Rail has today launched a public consultation to hear passengers’ views on the proposed £104m transformation of Glasgow Queen Street station. Network Rail has released station retail sales results showing 7.8% growth in like-for-like sales from September to December 2013 – the most successful quarter for Network Rail managed station retailers on record and a significant outperformance over high street sales (+0.6%*).

South West Trains passengers will see the first additional train carriages being introduced onto their services next month to help provide extra capacity on the UK’s busiest commuter network.

Network Rail: Dawlish railway restoration update
Following the latest severe storms last weekend, Network Rail has updated its estimate of the time it will take to restore the railway at Dawlish. It has now advised that the railway will be repaired by mid-April and that it will be working night and day with dedicated resources to accelerate this programme.
