Marriott agrees TravelCLICK deal
Marriott has signed an agreement with TravelCLICK to implement TravelCLICK Hotelligence in 150 of its select service and extended stay properties including Courtyard, Residence Inn, Fairfield Inn, TownePlace Suites, and SpringHill Suites.

Marriott International recently signed an agreement with TravelCLICK, the leader in hotel ecommerce solutions, to implement TravelCLICK Hotelligence® in 150 of its select service and extended stay properties including Courtyard, Residence Inn, Fairfield Inn, TownePlace Suites, and SpringHill Suites. Hotelligence reports will provide Marriott properties with insight on bookings history for thousands of travel agents worldwide using the Global Distribution System (GDS), including information on booking sources, rates, and length-of-stay patterns for their individual hotels and for hotels they define as their competitors.
Marriott halts free newspaper delivery as travellers go online
Marriott International is cutting its free newspaper deliver to guest across its US hotels due to falling demand.As business travellers switch to reading news on their laptops and phones, demand for free newspapers delivered to Marriott’s 2,600 hotels has tumbled by a quarter.
Marriott inks deals for JW brand projects

Marriott International has made a number of senior executive appointments beginning with William J. Shaw (pictured), who is currently president and chief operating officer, becoming vice chairman of the company, an executive position reporting to J.W. Marriott International has made three new area sales and marketing appointments in Continental Europe: Theo Ocks for Western Europe, Vicky Varfis for Eastern Europe, and Iris Baugatz for Central Europe.

Marriott has opened a new hotel in Shenzhen, China. The 411- room JW Marriott Hotel Shenzhen is the fifth JW Marriott branded hotel in China.
Marriott posts loss and weakens outlook
Marriott International has posted a fourth-quarter net loss, as restructuring charges, cutbacks in business travel, and its slowing time-share business take their toll.Marriott reported a net loss of $10 million compared with a year-earlier profit of $176 million. The company also forecast continued weakness in 2009, but said it is close to selling off time-share loans.
Marriott opens two Phuket hotels
Marriot International has opened two new mid-market hotels in Phuket - the Courtyard by Marriott Phuket at Patong Beach and Courtyard by Marriott Phuket at Kamala Beach. The group operates both hotels under a management agreement with Destination Properties Company.
Marriott plans seven India openings this year
Marriott is on track to open seven hotels, with a total room inventory of 1,561 rooms, in India this year.
Bennett to boost ownership diversity for Marriott
Marriott has appointed Ray Bennett as senior vice president, lodging development for select service and extended stay brands, Eastern region, and leader of Marriott’s Diversity Ownership Initiative, a program developed in 2005 to increase the number of minority- and women-owned hotels.
