Marriott ranks high on InformationWeek 500 as an innovative user of technology
Marriott International, Inc. (NYSE: MAR) has been ranked 85th among the most innovative users of technology in the U.S. by InformationWeek magazine. Marriott was the highest ranked lodging company on the list. This is the tenth consecutive year that Marriott has been named to the InformationWeek 500. Companies honored represent today’s leading technology innovators.
Marriott unwraps bigger Asian expansion
Marriott International has unveiled plans to open 21 hotels through to the end of 2013, adding nearly 7,000 rooms to the previously-announced Asian Pacific pipeline of 37 hotels and 9,400 rooms. The additions form a major part of the company’s global development pipeline of 110,000 rooms.
Jakarta bomb: nine killed so far
Bombs have exploded devastating the Ritz-Carlton and JW Marriott Hotels in the Indonesian Capitol of Jakarta. The bombs are believed to have exploded minutes from each other, one in the basement car park of the Marriott and one on the first floor restaurant of the Ritz Carlton .

Marriott commits to Pegasus solutions
Marriott International has committed to Pegasus Solutions until 2014 to provide hotel reservation payments for travel agents through Pegasus’ leading Global Commission Processing service. Marriott has long been recognized for its dedication to building business for agents, not only through prompt payment and reconciliation, but also through its Hotel Excellence! training program, which marked its 10th anniversary in January.
IHR Opens Convention Center and Lancaster Marriott
Interstate Hotels & Resorts, a leading hotel real estate investor and the nation’s largest independent management company, today announced that it has opened the 299-room, full-service integrated Lancaster Marriott at Penn Square and Lancaster County Convention Center, comprising a combined 90,000 square feet of meeting space. Interstate has been actively involved in the development of the project for more than a decade, including feasibility, construction oversight and devising marketing strategies to maximize the overall economic benefit for Lancaster County. The $177-million hotel and convention center project is a joint venture of the Redevelopment Authority of the City of Lancaster, Lancaster County Convention Center Authority and private developer Penn Square Partners. Interstate operates both parts of the integrated facility.
Marriott reveals bold China plans
Marriott is planning to open 17 new hotels in China over the next five years, a move which would bring its portfolio to 52 properties and more than 22,000 rooms.

Marriott expands French portfolio
Marriott has opened its tenth hotel in France, the 187-room Courtyard by Marriott Hotel Toulouse Airport Hotel. The property is opposite the Aeronautic Park, approximately 4 kilometers from Toulouse-Blagnac International Airport and a short distance from the home of Airbus Industries in Aeronautic Park.

Marriott wins Emirates deal for Park Towers
Emirates has selected Marriott International to manage the Park Towers in Dubai. The 1,614-room twin-tower hotel and apartment property, which Emirates is currently constructing on Sheikh Zayed Road, is adjacent to Dubai’s premier Business Bay district.
Marriott plans Dubai HQ
In recognition of its rapidly expanding presence in the Middle East and its anticipated expansion in Africa, Marriott International has confirmed it will open a new regional headquarters in Dubai on January 1, 2010.
