Malaysia Airlines has said it will continue to grow its reach and capacity to a host of destinations across Australasia, following the launch of the airline’s highly anticipated new route to Darwin, capital of the Northern Territory in Australia earlier this year. More flights to more destinations throughout the region are set to make Malaysia Airlines one of the leading carriers servicing Australia and New Zealand from the UK.

Malaysia Airlines has been voted ‘Asia’s Leading Airline’ at the World Travel Awards Asia & Australasia Gala Ceremony, beating 11 other big name full service carriers. On hand to receive the honour at the event was Malaysia Airlines’ director of customer services, Dato’ Mohd Salleh Ahmad Tabrani, along with four uniformed staff.

Malaysia Airlines was voted ‘Asia’s Leading Airline’ at the World Travel Awards 2013 (WTA), beating 11 other big name full service carriers. The prestigious recognition was presented at the WTA’s Asia and Australasia gala ceremony yesterday evening at Dubai.

Malaysia Airlines has appointed Weng Chi Lee to the role of area manager UK & Ireland, joining the London based team to oversee operations and drive the business and sales strategy in this key market from August 2013. Weng Chi Lee brings over 25 years of travel and tourism experience to the role.

Malaysia Airlines has continued its expansion model with the announcement of increased airlift to capital cities, Auckland and Yangon. Only last week, the Malaysian national carrier announced the addition of Dubai, Darwin and Kochi to its network.

Malaysia Airlines will soon count Darwin among its Australian destinations. Launching November 1st, the route initially closed in 2002 has been reinstated to provide passengers, particularly those travelling from the UK, easier access to Australia’s Northern Territory.
