Kenya Ministry of Tourism seeks to dampen concerns

Officials at the Kenya Ministry of Tourism are attempting to quell a growing crisis in the sector after two kidnappings in coastal areas near Somalia prompted the British Foreign & Commonwealth Office to advise against travel to the region. In the latest attack, Marie DeDieu, a French citizen, was abducted from a private residence in Manda Island on Saturday.

The Kenya Government has confirmed that the cost of a single entry tourist visa to Kenya will remain at £20 ($25) for all visitors to the country until July 1st 2011. The waiver on the visa fee for children under the age of 16 years will remain in force for the same period.
