Boeing delivers first 787 Dreamliner to Kenya Airways
Boeing and Kenya Airways have celebrated the delivery of the carrier’s first 787 Dreamliner. The airplane departed Paine Field in Everett for a 7,800 nautical mile non-stop flight to Kenya Airways’ home base in Nairobi at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport.
KLM links with Kenya Airways for new East Africa options
KLM Royal Dutch Airlines has expanded its cooperation with Kenya Airways within East Africa. Kenya Airways and KLM now jointly operate 44 weekly flights on six routes to East Africa, with combined revenues exceeding US$500 million.

Boeing has delivered a 777-300ER to GE Capital Aviation Services for lease to Kenya Airways. It is Kenya Airways’ first 777-300ER and the largest airplane in the carrier’s fleet, providing greater capacity, range and improved operating economics for its long-haul operations.

IATA 2013: Jones appointed to head of cargo network service
The International Air Transport Association announced the appointment of Warren Jones as head of cargo network service, effective April 24th 2013. Jones, a US national, was previously the Aviation Development Manager at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, and has more than 15 years’ experience in aviation and cargo issues.
IATA 2013: Kenya Airways Pride Centre granted new IATA Certification
Kenya Airways Pride Centre, a training centre run by the national flag-carrier, has been granted new global certification by the International Air Transport Association. The new certification from the association designates the centre as an IATA Approved Training School, allowing it to deliver endorsed training programmes in the field of Dangerous Goods Regulations to shippers, freight forwarders, airlines and governments.
Kenya Airways to commence direct flights to Abu Dhabi
Kenya Airways has announced the commencement of direct flights to Abu Dhabi, the capital city of the United Arab Emirates, as it grows its presence in the Middle East. The airline will start operating the service on the route from July 1st, 2013, flying three times a week between Nairobi and Abu Dhabi.
Etihad expands its reach in Africa
Etihad Airways is expanding its reach across Africa after signing a strategic commercial partnership agreement with Kenya Airways, the national flag carrier of Kenya. Etihad Airways will place its EY code on Kenya Airways flights from Nairobi to 27 destinations across Kenya Airways’ network in Africa.
