Japan Airlines expands codeshare with Jetstar Japan
Japan Airlines announced today it will start codeshare and mileage program partnership with Jetstar Japan - a joint-investment with the Qantas Group, Mitsubishi Corporation and Century Tokyo Leasing Corporation. Reservations, sales and JAL mileage redemption of flights operated by Jetstar Japan will begin from February 27th, 2013, for departures from March 6th, 2013.
Dreamliner grounding prompts JAL route cancellation
Japan Airlines has decided to postpone the launch of its non-stop service between Tokyo (Narita) and Helsinki originally scheduled on February 25th. The decision has been taken in view of necessary adjustments to international routes at the airline which utilise the Boeing 787 Dreamliner following its grounding on since January 16th, 2013.
Japan Airlines and S7 Airlines launch latest oneworld codeshare
Japan Airlines and S7 Airlines, both members of the oneworld airline alliance, have entered a codeshare agreement with each other for the first time and will commence codeshare flights from January 30th, 2013. JAL operates a non-stop service three times a week between Tokyo (Narita) and Moscow (Domodedovo).
Japan Airlines reshuffles flight schedule for 2013
The JAL Group has announced route and flight frequency plans for its domestic and a portion of international operations for fiscal year 2013. Capitalising on the new allotted slots at Tokyo’s Haneda airport, JAL will increase flight frequencies on certain domestic routes and has also decided to launch a new service between Haneda and Nagoya (Chubu) with one daily round-trip flight, serving as a convenient connection to and from the late-night departures and early arrivals of international flights at Haneda to further enhance customer convenience.
Japan Airlines launches new codeshare with American Airlines
Japan Airlines will strengthen its network in the two largest cities of Brazil - Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro, with the start of a new codeshare arrangement with American Airlines, beginning January 27th, 2013. JAL will add Rio de Janeiro as a new destination in its international network, and increase the number of codeshare flights to and from Sao Paulo with this latest agreement.
Another day, another Dreamliner incident
Japan Airlines has been forced to cancel a takeoff from Logan Airport in Boston after fuel was found to have leaked from a Dreamliner aircraft. The incident on Tuesday follows a fire onboard another Dreamliner on Monday.
Boeing Dreamliner catches fire in United States
A Boeing Dreamliner operated by Japan Airlines has caught fire in Boston following a flight from Tokyo. There are no reports of injuries following the incident onboard the Boeing 787, with all passengers and crew having already disembarked.
Japan Airlines unveils new staff uniforms
JAL Group has unveiled a brand new set of uniforms for its 26,700 staff members, including flight crew, cabin attendants, various ground staff at the airport and city offices, as well as maintenance staff. The new uniforms will be adopted in the first half of fiscal year 2013.
Japan Airlines to offer Kentucky Fried Chicken to passengers over Christmas
It somewhat of a surprising development, Japan Airlines has partnered with Kentucky Fried Chicken to offer a series of in-flight meals. From December 1st, passengers will be offered the menu onboard select international JAL flights.
Japan Airlines and BA expand codeshare agreement
Japan Airlines and British Airways have agreed to add Rome, Milan, Bologna, Amsterdam and Warsaw to their list of codeshare cities from October 28th, 2012, when JAL will place its flight indicator on the BA-operated flights between London and these destinations.

Japan Airlines launches joint business agreement with British Airways
Japan Airlines and British Airways have confirmed they will begin a joint business agreement, with the two airlines sharing revenue on applicable flights between Europe and Japan. The joint business, which starts on October 1st, will benefit customers by providing better links between Japan and Europe, greater choice of flights to more destinations, enhanced frequent flyer benefits and the potential to launch new routes.
