The Stanwell, the first boutique hotel for Heathrow Airport business travellers, opens its doors again this April following a multi-million pound refurbishment and extension led by new brand, The Inn-genious Hotel Group and backed by Albion Ventures LLP.
Full body scans become compulsory at Heathrow and Manchester
Passengers using Heathrow and Manchester airports will not be allowed to board their flights if they refuse to undergo a full-body scan. But in a bid to allay privacy fears, the Transport Secretary Lord Adonis promised that the images are deleted “immediately”.

Snow causes more travel chaos
Snow continued to fall across the UK creating fresh chaos for travellers and closing Gatwick Airport for the second time in a week. Heathrow is currently open but airport operator BAA is warning of cancellations and delays due to the weather. Birmingham Airport and Cardiff Airport were also closed but both have now reopened but warned of severe delays and cancellations.
BAA warns of tough 2010
BAA has warned that it was facing a tough 2010 with Heathrow the only one of its six airports to register a rise in traffic. Its Scottish airports were badly hit by the collapse of Flyglobespan, as well as by adverse recent weather.
Police storm plane at Heathrow in bomb threat
Armed police arrested three men on a plane at Heathrow at the weekend amid fears of a terror threat. They swarmed the Dubai-bound Emirates plane as it was taxiing on the tarmac before take-over, and removed the three suspects.
Travel chaos continues
A number of UK airports remain closed due to the adverse weather conditions which are affecting the entire country. Gatwick, Bristol, Exeter and Blackpool all remain closed as snow is cleared from runways.
Heathrow to deploy full body scanner
Heathrow is to become the first of BAA’s six UK airports to install full body scanner. The airport operator said the scanners would be in place “as soon as practically possible”.
