Germany continues to lead in Green Meetings worldwide
Meeting planners around the world are increasingly citing sustainability as a prerequisite for green meetings, and Germany is leading the way to make green meetings a reality. In recent months, Germany and its leading in-country MICE partners have introduced revolutionary concepts in green meetings, including a global sustainability codex, green meeting planner certification programs, ready-made and tailored green meeting packages and more.

‘Green Meetings’ and sustainability in business is the theme of the German National Tourist Office’s forthcoming networking seminar on Wednesday, 26th September, an event initiated and hosted by the German National Tourist Office, in conjunction with The German Convention Bureau (GCB).
New app from German National Tourist Board
Apple has placed the new ‘Top 100’ app from the German National Tourist Board (GNTB) on its ‘New and Noteworthy’ page online in Germany. The ‘Top 100’ is featured in Apple’s editorial section of the latest and most interesting apps - as recommended by them.

Top 100 is the name of the new app launched by the German National Tourist Board (GNTB), which visitors to Germany can use to find out about the country’s top 100 tourist sights. At the beginning of the year, the GNTB conducted a survey among travellers in Destination Germany to find out what they considered to be their personal highlights.
Germany launches top 100 tourist hotspots app
The German National Tourist Board has launched its first ever mobile app for Android and iOS devices. The ‘Top 100’ was developed as an app following an online survey earlier this year which identified visitors’ Top 100 tourist attractions in Germany.
GNTB expects even more visitors from China in the future
The German government is to relax visa regulations for frequent travellers from China, so the German National Tourist Board (GNTB) is expecting a sharp rise in the numbers arriving. As the result of an initiative by the German Embassy in Beijing, it will be easier for frequent travellers from Beijing and Shanghai (business travellers, those visiting family and friends) to get a visa for travel to Germany.
Munich is celebrating 200 years of beer gardens
2012 will see the 200th anniversary of the edict which permitted beer brewers to sell retail quantities of their own beer in their beer cellars from June until September and to serve beer and bread to their guests.
German and Dutch appetite for travel to Cape Town continues to grow
“Last year, arrivals from Germany to South Africa grew by 9.3 percent (235,774 arrivals) and by the end of February this year, arrivals were 7.8 percent up on February 2011.” This is the encouraging news from Cape Town Tourism’s representative in Germany, Barbara Zieme of Akomsa.

The German National Tourist Office has appointed Charles Wilson as sales manager for the UK & Ireland with immediate effect. Wilson brings with him many years of valuable travel industry experience, including travel operations at TUI UK and lastminute.com among others.
Seychelles discusses bilateral support with Germany
The Seychelles’ Minister for Tourism and Culture, Alain St.Ange, has sought the support of Germany to assist in the development of the German language at the Seychelles Tourism Academy.
Website aids German popularity
Germany has again set a new record for 2011, generating over 60 million overnight stays by foreign visitors to the country for the second successive year. This result represents an additional increase of 5.8 million for 2010 and an extra 3.5 million overnight stays for 2011, respectively a ten per cent and 5.7 per cent increase year on year.
Germany records the German participation at the Carnival in Seychelles
German newspapers, including the Bild, have been reporting on the Indian Ocean Vanilla Islands Carnival hosted by Seychelles and La Reunion in Victoria in the Seychelles. One main article by Melanie Voisin records the success of the carnival that is staged annually in Seychelles. She speaks of the Prince and Princess from the Dusseldorf Carnival of Germany and their entourage and the delegation of the German Carnival Parade Band who traveled to Seychelles to fly the German flag in the world’s only carnival of carnivals.
