Genting Hong Kong to develop Tai Zi Bay into international cruise port
Genting Hong Kong has entered into a strategic cooperation framework agreement with China Merchants Shekou Holdings to jointly develop Tai Zi Bay, Shekou, Shenzhen into an international cruise homeport with the goal to accelerate the growth of the cruise industry in China. A memorandum of understanding to this effect was signed by Ang Moo Lim, executive vice president, sales of Genting Hong Kong and president of Star Cruises, and Xu Yongjun, managing director of China Merchants Shekou Industrial Zone.

Genting Hong Kong takes control of three further European shipyards
Genting Hong Kong has announced the acquisition of Nordic Yards’ three shipyards in Wismar, Warnemunde and Stralsund, Germany for the consideration of €230.6 million. The purchase of the three shipyards, along with Lloyd Werft last year, enables Genting Hong Kong to realize its global cruise ships fleet strategy over the next decade for its three brands - Crystal Cruises, Dream Cruises, and Star Cruises.

Dream Cruises celebrates steel cutting ahead of World Dream launch
Genting Hong Kong has marked the official start of production on Dream Cruises’ second new ship, World Dream, during a steel cutting ceremony at the Meyer Werft shipyard in Papenburg, Germany. “This is a very proud moment for Dream Cruises,” said Tan Sri Lim Kok Thay, chairman of Genting Hong Kong. “Utilising our 23 years of cruise experience in Asia, World Dream, together with her sister ship Genting Dream, are luxury cruise ships designed from inception for the Chinese and Asian markets.”

Meyer Werft lays keel for Genting Dream
Executives from Genting Hong Kong and Meyer Werft have celebrated the laying of the keel of Genting Dream, Dream Cruises’ new ship, at a special commemoration held at the shipyard in Papenburg, Germany. A significant milestone in a vessel’s timeline, this traditional ceremony marks the formal recognition of the start of a new ship’s construction.

Genting Singapore beats profit forecasts
Genting Singapore, the world’s third largest casino group, has beat analyst forecasts to post a net profit of S$657.2m (US$514m) for 2010 and revenues of S$1.4bn (US$1.1bn). The Malaysian group opened Singapore’s first casino resort last year, and is predicted by analysts to make a profit of S$1.4bn in 2011.


Hotels Open at Resorts World Sentosa; Reservations Begin 11 January 2010
Singapore’s first Integrated Resort, Resorts World Sentosa, will start its phased opening from 20 Jan 2010, beginning with its four hotels opening on the same red-letter day.
