Etihad inks Thai tourism deal at Expo Milano
Etihad Airways, the national airline of the United Arab Emirates, and The Tourism Authority of Thailand have signed a landmark US$1.25 million agreement to increase tourism to Thailand. Under the new agreement, the Abu Dhabi-based airline and TAT will jointly promote travel to Thailand from priority markets including the United Arab Emirates, UK, Ireland, Belgium, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Switzerland, South Africa, Iran and Kuwait.

World Expo 2015 is currently taking place in Milan and will run until October 31st.

Milan welcomes the world as Expo 2015 opens its doors
Pope Francis, and Italian prime minister Matteo Renzi have both welcomed guests to Milan as Expo 2015 gets underway. A spectacular show of the Frecce Tricolori soaring over the Expo site officially started the Universal Exhibition, as Renzi said: “Expo 2015 shall be a place of freedom, a moment of confrontation for new generations, let’s demonstrate that Italy is proud of its roots, of its traditions, but the most important page has still to be written by all of us.”
Gateway to sell UK Pavilion tickets at Expo Milano 2015
Gateway Ticketing Systems UK has been selected to install a timed ticketing solution for the UK Pavilion on-site at Milan Expo 2015, running from May 1st–October 31st 2015. Gateway has been called in due to forecasted high attendance figures, estimated following the success of the UK Pavilion in Shanghai in 2010.
Oman unveils first glimpse of Milano Expo 2015 exhibition
The Sultanate of Oman’s stunning 2,790 square metre exhibition showcase at Milano Expo 2015 – a collaboration between the ministry of commerce and industry of Oman, Oman ministry of tourism and Oman Air – will present the Sultanate’s ancient traditions and plans for a sustainable future. “Expo is probably the greatest opportunity in the world where we can simultaneously show the main assets of our Country,” said Salim Bin Adi Al Mamari, director general of tourism development, Oman ministry of tourism.
Expo Milano launches latest TV advertising campaign
Expo Milano 2015 steps into the spotlight in this morning with the third phase of its communication campaign. Organisers at the event have released a short video entitled ‘Your journey around the world’, which will being airing from today. The TV commercial makes a visit to the Exhibition Site to become a real voyage of discovery of the planet’s myriad cultures.
Vinitaly success offers positive omens for Expo Milano 2015
The 2015 edition of Vinitaly has successfully come to a close. Minister Maurizio Martina recalled the commitment of Veronafiere-Vinitaly in the creation of Expo Milano 2015’s the Wine Pavilion. The space will be built as part of the Italian Pavilion thanks to funding from the ministry of agriculture, food and forestry and Veronafiere-Vinitaly, which together with the Scientific Committee, is also curating the contents and the exhibitions.
Milano Expo 2015 appoints Oman Air as official reseller
As Milano Expo 2015 prepares to open its doors to an expected 20 million visitors, Oman Air has been named as the event’s Preferred Authorised Reseller for the Sultanate of Oman. The Omani national airline offers tickets for sale and details of how they can be purchased has been published. EXPO Milano 2015 takes place between May 1st and October 31st 2015 and will follow the theme of ‘Feeding the Planet, Energy for Life’.

MSC Cruises has been named Official Cruise Carrier of Expo 2015, the universal exposition that since 1851 has celebrated human achievement and debated the big questions facing humanity. Under the partnership, MSC Cruises, the market leader in the Mediterranean, South Africa and Brazil, will proudly display the Expo Milano 2015 logo on the hull of MSC Fantasia, which will sail in the Med throughout 2015.
Reinventing Alitalia boosted by Sabre deal
One of Europe’s leading carriers, Italy-based Alitalia, has selected Sabre technology to help drive its newly announced ‘Reinventing Alitalia’ modernisation program. Under the long-term agreement, Alitalia will migrate to Sabre’s integrated Software-as-a-Service platform for all critical airline operations, including its industry-leading SabreSonic Customer Sales & Service passenger reservations system.
New-look Alitalia takes off from New York
The first flight of the ‘new Alitalia’ took off today from New York JFK at 01:35 ‘Zulu time’ - the time conventionally adopted by the aviation industry, corresponding to 02:35 Italian local time - and landed in Milan Malpensa at 10.40. The flight was operated by an Airbus A330 aircraft in the Expo Milano 2015 livery branded Alitalia and Etihad Airways, Official Global Carriers of the most important Italian event of the year.
