Etihad launches first service to South America with Sao Paulo flights
Etihad Airways has unveiled plans to fly to Brazil, the airline’s first South American destination. “Brazil is a logical next step for us and will mark the sixth continent we serve and our coming of age as a truly global airline,” explained Etihad chief executive James Hogan.

Etihad Airways’ equity stake in Virgin Australia Holdings has now reached 4.99 per cent, the Abu Dhabi-based airline has confirmed. The company remains interested in “building a larger stake over time”, Etihad said earlier, but will only do so after receiving the necessary regulatory approvals.

Etihad Airways is offering one night’s free accommodation to passengers who stop over in Abu Dhabi for a minimum of two nights before December 1st 2012. The Essential Stopovers offer, part of the airline’s Essential Abu Dhabi program, can be redeemed at 25 hotels, ranging from three to five-star.
Etihad Airways signs codeshare deal with Safi Airways
Etihad Airways will gain better access to Kabul following the signing of a codeshare agreement with Afghanistan carrier Safi Airways. Under the deal, Etihad has placed its two-letter ‘EY’ code on the four weekly services which Safi Airways has operated between Abu Dhabi and the Afghan capital, Kabul, since February 2012.
