Ethiopian Cargo, the largest cargo operator in Africa, is pleased to announce the opening of a second cargo hub in Africa based in Lomé, Togo, in partnership with ASKY Airlines. The new cargo hub will commence operations in September 2013 after the phase-in of a B737-400F.

The government of Malawi and African powerhouse Ethiopian Airlines have finalised the creation of a new national airline in the Southern African country, called Malawian Airlines. Officials in Addis Ababa confirmed the government of Malawi will hold a 51 per cent stake in new carrier, with Ethiopian Airlines holding the remaining shares.

Oman Air has entered into a codeshare partnership with Ethiopian Airlines, the national carrier of Ethiopia on the Muscat and Addis Ababa sectors, which will offer greater choice for customers of the two airlines. This codeshare agreement will cover flights between the Omani capital of Muscat and the Ethiopian capital of Addis Ababa.

Ethiopian Airlines has announced an expansion of its Asian network, adding three new destinations: Ho Chi Minh City, Manila and Seoul, as of June 18th, 2013. In addition, flights from Addis Ababa to Hong Kong will no longer need to stop in Bangkok; Hong Kong will now be served via daily non-stop service from Addis Ababa instead of the current four-times-a-week flights routed through Bangkok.

The Tanzania Tourist Board and Ethiopian Airlines have signed a two-year Memorandum of Understanding to promote Tanzania tourism worldwide. The MoU was signed with the intention to increase the number of visitors to both Tanzania and Ethiopia, increase the presence of Tanzania tourism in key international markets, as well as enhance the business profile of Ethiopian Airlines.
