Ethiopian Airline flies Dreamliner into Shanghai
Ethiopian Airline has today launched daily services to Shanghai, China. Ethiopian will operate the Shanghai flight using its B787 Dreamliner with 24 Cloud Nine Business Class and 246 Economy Class seats.
Ethiopian Airlines signs new deal with GE
Ethiopian Airlines has signed a ten-year OnPoint solution agreement with GE for maintenance, repair and overhaul of its GE90 engines. Under this agreement, GE will maintain the GE90 engines that power Ethiopian’s 16 B777 aircraft, which include six B777-200LR, six B777-F, and four B777-300ER.
Ethiopian Airways receives first 777-300ER
Boeing has delivered a 777-300ER (Extended Range) jet to GE Capital Aviation Services for lease to Ethiopian Airlines. The 777-300ER is now the largest airplane in the Ethiopian flag-carrier’s fleet and will provide it with increased capacity and improved operating economics on key routes from its base in the Ethiopian capital, Addis Ababa.
Ethiopian Airlines to receive Boeing 777-300ERs
Ethiopian Airlines will take delivery of the first of four Boeing 777-300ERs on November 7th, 2013. The B777-300ER is the largest aircraft in the airline’s fleet with a nearly 400-passenger seating capacity.
Ethiopian Airlines launches new Niger flights
Ethiopian Airlines has announced it will commence four weekly flights to Niamey, in Republic of Niger, from November 20th, 2013. Niamey is the capital and the largest city in the West African country Niger.
Ethiopian partners with ASKY
Ethiopian Cargo, the largest cargo operator in Africa, is pleased to announce the opening of a second cargo hub in Africa based in Lomé, Togo, in partnership with ASKY Airlines. The new cargo hub will commence operations in September 2013 after the phase-in of a B737-400F.

New African airline takes off in Malawi
The government of Malawi and African powerhouse Ethiopian Airlines have finalised the creation of a new national airline in the Southern African country, called Malawian Airlines. Officials in Addis Ababa confirmed the government of Malawi will hold a 51 per cent stake in new carrier, with Ethiopian Airlines holding the remaining shares.

Ethiopian Airlines, the fastest growing airline in Africa, has announced its chief executive, Tewolde Gebremariam, has been elected to the International Air Transport Association Board of Governors. IATA is a trade association for the world’s airlines.

Oman Air links with Ethiopia Airlines for Muscat-Addis Ababa flights
Oman Air has entered into a codeshare partnership with Ethiopian Airlines, the national carrier of Ethiopia on the Muscat and Addis Ababa sectors, which will offer greater choice for customers of the two airlines. This codeshare agreement will cover flights between the Omani capital of Muscat and the Ethiopian capital of Addis Ababa.
