Dubai-based Emirates Airline has signed a memorandum of understanding to acquire up to 36 additional A380 aircraft. The agreement was signed this morning at the airline’s headquarters in Dubai by Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, chief executive, Emirates Airline, and John Leahy, chief operating officer, customers, Airbus Commercial Aircraft.

Emirates today announced that it is to launch a new daily route from London Stansted to Dubai on June 8th next year. With its strategic position close to the tech and pharma hubs of Cambridge and Peterborough, Emirates will be the first Middle Eastern airline to operate out of the popular north-east London airport.

Emirates today celebrates the milestone delivery of its 100th Airbus A380 aircraft at a special ceremony with Airbus at the manufacturer’s delivery centre in Hamburg. Emirates chairman Ahmed bin Saeed Al-Maktoum officiated the ceremony.

Following the commencement of their partnership, Emirates and flydubai today announced that Emirates will expand its network to 29 flydubai destinations across three continents. The new partner network, through its codeshare, will offer greater frequency and easier access to more global destinations with the advantage of connecting baggage to the final destination.
