Dubai hits 100,000 hotel room milestone as new Westin property opens
Key players in Dubai’s tourism industry came together to mark the city’s milestone achievement of reaching 100,000 rooms across its expanding hotel and hotel apartment inventory following the soft opening of The Westin Dubai, Al Habtoor City. Commenting on the occasion, Helal Saeed Almarri, director general of Dubai Department of Tourism & Commerce Marketing, said: “For the hotel sector, high demand from international travellers, and the consequent growth in tourism volumes, has been the cornerstone of fostering continued investment in supply enhancement, which has seen us cross this historic 100,000 rooms threshold.”
Legoland Dubai unveils Burj Khalifa model
Legoland Dubai has welcomed special guest Emirati youth Mohammed bin Ahmed Jaber Al Harbi to officially unveil the world’s tallest Lego building structure, the Burj Khalifa. Standing at 17 metres tall (a record-breaker for a model of a building), the Burj Khalifa replica towered over five year-old Mohammed, who added the finishing touches to the iconic masterpiece by adding a tiny replica of himself to the model and turning on the first of the structure’s LED lights.

Dubai International sees passenger numbers soar once again
Dubai International welcomed a record 7.7 million passengers in August, eclipsing its previous record achieved in July, according to the monthly traffic report issued today by operator Dubai Airports. Passenger traffic at DXB passengers reached 7,727,105 compared to 7,282,256 recorded in the corresponding month last year, an increase of 6.1 per cent.
World Travel Awards set for Middle East Gala Ceremony at St. Regis Dubai
World Travel Awards will host its much anticipated Middle East Gala Ceremony 2016 at The St. Regis Dubai on September 29th. The event is the latest stop on the Grand Tour 2016, with previous hosts including Diamonds La Gemma dell’Est in Tanzania, Sandals Ochi Beach Resort in Jamaica, Swissôtel Lima, and Italy’s Forte Village Resort.
Record passenger traffic for Dubai Airports in July
Passenger traffic at Dubai International has exceeded all previous records in July surging to an historic high of 7.6 million, according to the monthly traffic report issued by operator Dubai Airports. Passenger numbers in July totalled 7,616,792 compared to the 6,682,676 handled in July 2015, a significant increase of 14 per cent.

Dubai Parks & Resorts set for October opening
Dubai Parks & Resorts has announced that the region’s largest theme park destination will open its gates to the public on October 31st, 2016. This unique destination will be comprised of three theme parks - Bollywood Parks Dubai, MOTIONGATE Dubai, and LEGOLAND Dubai, together with LEGOLAND Water Park.
Dubai World Central sees near doubling of passenger traffic
Passenger traffic at Dubai’s second airport, Dubai World Central continued the upward trend in the first half of the year surging more than 95 per cent, according to the traffic report issued by operator Dubai Airports. Passenger traffic for the first six months of the year totalled 410,278, up 95.4 per cent compared to 209,989 passengers recorded during the corresponding period in 2015.
DusitPrincess ACES Dubai set for United Arab Emirates opening
Dusit Hotels & Resorts recently signed a management agreement with ACES Property Development to operate DusitPrincess ACES Dubai, a new hotel apartment project within Jumeirah Village Circle, Dubai, in the United Arab Emirates. Dubai International continues to see passenger numbers rise
Passenger numbers at Dubai International continued an upward trend in May with the airport welcoming 6.7 million customers, according to the monthly traffic report issued by operator Dubai Airports. In May 2016 passenger numbers at DXB rose 7.2 per cent to 6,721,995 compared to 6,267,640 in May 2015. During the first five months of 2016, DXB welcomed 34,648,953 passengers which represents a year on year growth of seven per cent compared to 32,384,620 passengers during the same period last year.
