Delta Air Lines and Virgin Atlantic have announced expanded cooperation with Jet Airways to provide convenient codeshare connections for customers between key destinations across North America and India via London Heathrow. Effective tomorrow, Jet Airways customers flying between India and North America will be able to connect through London Heathrow on to nine US destinations operated by Delta.

Delta Air Lines has reported adjusted pre-tax income for the September 2016 quarter of $1.9 billion, a $278 million decrease from the September 2015 quarter. The technology outage and subsequent operational recovery Delta experienced over four days in early August reduced pre-tax income for the quarter by an estimated $150 million.

From today all Delta Air Lines flights from London will operate from Heathrow Terminal 3. In total, Delta operates 11 daily flights non-stop to eight US cities from Heathrow. These include departures to New York-JFK, Atlanta, Detroit, Minneapolis, Boston, Salt Lake City, Philadelphia and Seattle.

Korean Air and Delta Air Lines will strengthen their partnership by expanding codeshares to more than 100 United States and Canadian destinations and over 30 cities across Asia. The airlines plan to launch the new codeshares in the fourth quarter of 2016, subject to government approvals.

Delta Air Lines will begin daily service to Havana, Cuba, from Atlanta, Miami and New York–JFK on December 1st following an announcement by the US department of transportation. Delta thanked the DOT for awarding the airline the ability to resume operating nonstop scheduled service to Cuba for the first time in almost 55 years. Flights will be available for sale beginning September 10th, 2016.

Delta Air Lines will operate exclusively from London Heathrow Airport’s Terminal 3, effective September 14th, 2016. Delta and Virgin Atlantic will now operate from the same terminal making it easier for customers to manage their travel plans including any last-minute flight changes. Delta will transfer its Atlanta, Detroit, Minneapolis, Salt Lake City and Philadelphia flights from Terminal 4 to join its services to New York-JFK, Boston and Seattle that already operate from Terminal 3.

Delta Air Lines was forced to cancel about 775 flights on Tuesday as the airline worked to establish normal operations after a power outage at the airline’s Atlanta base disrupted the flight schedule on Monday. Delta, however, said the outlook for Wednesday’s operations was “positive”, with about 90 cancellations expected at the beginning of the day leading to normal operations later.

The airline experienced a loss of power Monday morning that impacted operations worldwide. Delta was forced to cancel about 1,000 flights yesterday due to a loss of power affecting its control centre in Atlanta.

Delta and the Port Authority of New York & New Jersey will partner to replace Terminals C and D at New York’s LaGuardia Airport with a state-of-the-art facility. The project, which was approved earlier by PANYNJ, is part of a new lease agreement to be negotiated at the airport through 2050. The authority has committed, as part of the agreement, $600 million to facilitate construction of the terminal and other supporting infrastructure.
