Carnival Splendor’s schedule expanded
Beginning in 2014, Carnival Cruise Lines has significantly diversified Carnival Splendor’s year-round offerings from New York, adding new four- and five- day Canada cruises, seven-day Canada/New England departures, and the only program of eight-day eastern Caribbean voyages operating one-way between New York and San Juan.
Carnival announces $300m fleetwide enhancement
Carnival Cruise Lines, a unit of Carnival Corporation & plc, today announced that it has implemented a program to significantly enhance emergency power capabilities, introduce new fire safety technology, and improve the level of operating redundancies across its entire 24-ship fleet. This enhancement program will cost more than $300 million, and rapid upgrades have already begun.

Carnival Cruise Lines has announced the first implementation phase of its fleet wide comprehensive operational review, focused on Carnival Triumph, as well as Carnival Sunshine, which is currently undergoing a previously scheduled dry dock for product enhancements. The cruise line is making significant investments to enhance the level of operating redundancies and the scope of hotel services that can run on emergency power, and further improve each ship’s fire prevention, detection and suppression systems.
Second Carnival ship hit by technical problems
Things are going from bad to worse for Carnival, with news another of its ships is returning to port with technical problems. Carnival Legend is returning to the port of Tampa after experiencing a technical issue with one of its Azipod, affecting the vessel’s sailing speed.
Carnival Dream stranded in Caribbean
Passengers on the Carnival Dream have been stranded in the Caribbean after the ship developed equipment problems. The incident comes just a month after passengers were stranded for four days in the Gulf of Mexico on board the Carnival Triumph in what some described as toxic conditions.
