British Airways moves Sydney flights to Terminal 5
From March 31st, 2013 British Airways customers flying to Sydney will depart from Heathrow’s Terminal 5 and travel on the airline’s new Boeing 777-300 ER. The changes confirm British Airways’ commitment to Australia.
Las Vegas celebrates new British Airways flights from London Gatwick
The Las Vegas Convention & Visitors Authority has joined forces with British Airways to celebrate the airline’s new direct route from Gatwick airport in style. Customers at British Airways’ new Gatwick North Terminal check-in area were treated to a glass of English bubbly at a pop-up Las Vegas bar and entertained by tunes from a grand piano, a chorus line of twelve showgirls, circus performers and a four-tier ‘inaugural cake’.
New York flights cancelled as Hurricane Sandy approaches
Thousands of flights to and from several airports on America’s east coast, including New York, have been cancelled and 375,000 residents ordered to leave their homes ahead of the hurricane that is due to hit the US on Monday.
Work begins on first British Airways Dreamliner
Construction has started on British Airways’ first Dreamliner, with the Boeing 787 due to join the airline’s fleet in May next year. British Airways has ordered 24 of Boeing’s game-changing aircraft, as well as 12 Airbus A380 superjumbos.
British Airways on course for first A380 delivery
The building of British Airways’ first Airbus A380 superjumbo aircraft has reached a major milestone, with the installation of the four giant Rolls-Royce Trent 900 engines. The engines, which each produce 70,000 lbs of thrust, were attached to aircraft ‘MSN095’, the first of 12 A380s the airline has on order.

Japan Airlines and British Airways have confirmed they will begin a joint business agreement, with the two airlines sharing revenue on applicable flights between Europe and Japan. The joint business, which starts on October 1st, will benefit customers by providing better links between Japan and Europe, greater choice of flights to more destinations, enhanced frequent flyer benefits and the potential to launch new routes.
British Airways agrees code share with WestJet
WestJet has entered into a code-share agreement with British Airways, enabling British Airways to market and sell WestJet-operated flights. Effective immediately, the “BA” code will be placed on select WestJet flights connecting from Vancouver, Calgary and Toronto to Ottawa, Edmonton, and Victoria.
British Airways and Brand USA launch partnership
British Airways and Brand USA have signed a deal to position the carrier as the first Founding Airline Partner in the UK for the new tourism marketing body. As a Founding Partner, British Airways will work with Brand USA on a number of initiatives to promote the United States as a premier travel destination, including industry and travel agent activity, plus advertising campaigns in UK trade and consumer press.

Amadeus has announced British Airways has become the first airline to sign for its new Passenger Revenue Accounting solution. BA will benefit from Amadeus’ user-friendly, web-based system, which employs state-of-the-art technology in order to transform revenue accounting from a labour-intensive task to a fast, flexible strategic function.
Qantas seeks return to black with Emirates deal
Australian flag-carrier Qantas has announced a new global aviation partnership with Emirates designed to give customers a seamless Australian and international network. Under the agreement, signed this morning by Emirates president Tim Clark and Qantas Group chief executive Alan Joyce, Qantas will move its hub for European flights to Dubai and enter an extensive commercial relationship with Emirates.
