Boeing predicts $730bn Middle East aviation market
Boeing has forecast airlines in the Middle East will require 3,180 new airplanes over the next 20 years, valued at an estimated $730 billion. Some 70 per cent of this demand is expected to be driven by rapid fleet expansion in the region.
Korean Air finalises $4bn Boeing order
Boeing and Korean Air today finalised the airline’s order of 30 737 MAXs and two additional 777-300ER (Extended Range) jetliners valued at nearly $4 billion at current list prices. The airline also has options for additional 737 MAXs as part of the order, which was previously announced as a commitment during the Paris Air Show in June. With this order for up to 52 Boeing airplanes, Korean Air becomes Boeing’s newest 737 MAX customer and now has 62 firm Boeing airplane orders on backlog.
Commercial aviation drives Boeing skyward
Boeing has reported third-quarter revenue has increased nine per cent to $25.8 billion on record commercial deliveries. Core earnings per share for the quarter increased 18 per cent to $2.52, reflecting strong performance across the company, and GAAP earnings per share was $2.47.

Boeing has opened its research and technology centre in South Carolina, which is devoted to current and next-generation technology development. Boeing leaders joined local dignitaries and employees for a ribbon cutting and tours of the 104,000-square-foot Boeing Research & Technology-South Carolina centre, which leads the company’s research and development efforts in areas of advanced manufacturing with a focus on composite fuselage and propulsion systems production.
China president Xi visits Boeing to confirm 300 plane purchase
Boeing has welcomed China president Xi Jinping to its wide-body commercial airplane factory and announced several agreements that will broaden and deepen mutually beneficial cooperation between Boeing and China. The agreements include orders and commitments for 300 Boeing narrow-body and wide-body aircraft and expanded collaboration between Boeing and China’s commercial aviation industry.
China president Xi Jinping to visit Boeing in Washington
Boeing has confirmed that China president Xi Jinping will visit the company’s Everett, Washington, factory on September 23rd during his visit to the United States. Boeing chairman Jim McNerney will be on hand to welcome President Xi, along with Boeing president Dennis Muilenburg and Boeing Commercial Airplanes president Ray Conner.
Emirates welcomes record four aircraft in single day
Emirates has set a new company record with the arrival of four new aircraft in one day, affirming its commitment to flying a modern, efficient and comfortable fleet. The bumper delivery included two Boeing 777-300ERs, one Boeing 777 Freighter and one A380 aircraft. Emirates is already the world’s largest operator of the Boeing 777 and the A380.
Boeing reaches latest milestone in 777X design
Boeing has completed the firm configuration milestone for the 777-9, the first member of the 777X family to be developed. The Boeing 777X team reached this significant design milestone after working closely with airline customers and key suppliers to optimize the configuration of the new airplane. The 777X family includes the 777-8 and the 777-9 – both designed to respond to market needs and customer preferences.
Korean Air welcomes first Boeing 747-8 Intercontinental to fleet
Boeing and Korean Air have marked the delivery of the airline’s first 747-8 Intercontinental. The new fuel-efficient jet is the first of 10 747-8 passenger airplanes the carrier has on order. “This new aircraft delivers better fuel economy,” said Walter Cho, executive vice president and chief marketing officer, Korean Air.
Sriwijaya Air welcomes latest Boeing additions to fleet
Sriwijaya Air has welcomed the delivery of two new Next-Generation 737-900ER (Extended Range) airplanes from Boeing. This is the first all-new airplane delivery for Sriwijaya Air, Indonesia’s third largest carrier. “Today is a very important day for Sriwijaya Air, with the delivery of our first all-new airplanes,” said Chandra Lie, president of Sriwijaya Air.
Boeing predicts $1tn Chinese aviation market by 2035
Boeing, China’s leading provider of commercial airplanes, has projected a demand in the country for 6,330 new airplanes over the next 20 years. Boeing released its annual China Current Market Outlook in Beijing, estimating the total value of those new airplanes at $950 billion. “Despite the current volatility in China’s financial market, we see strong growth in the country’s aviation sector over the long term,” said Randy Tinseth, vice president of marketing, Boeing Commercial Airplanes.
Good takes seat on Boeing board of directors
Boeing chairman Jim McNerney has revealed the company’s board of directors has elected Lynn Good as a new member. Good, 56, is president and chief executive of Duke Energy, the largest US electric power company, serving approximately 23 million people in the Carolinas, Florida and the Midwest. She also serves as vice chair of Duke Energy’s board of directors.
