New airline enters Bhutan aviation market

Tashi Air, operating as Bhutan Airlines, Bhutan’s first privately owned airline has announced the launch of a new daily international route between Paro and Bangkok, allowing visitors a second choice of airline when visiting the mountain kingdom. The inaugural flight to the Land of the Thunder Dragon will take place on October 10th 2013 from Bangkok where the airline’s Airbus 320 is based.

The Tourism Council of Bhutan has launched a new website, offering travel information and advice to all visitors to the country. The website includes an interactive map, which breaks the country down into Eastern, Central and Western regions, providing information and locations of all available trekking routes, Dzongs, monasteries, hotels and attractions in each.

Bhutan boosting presence in UK outbound tourism market

Latest yearly tourism figures for Bhutan show a significant increase in the number of UK visitors to the country in 2011 compared to 2010. A total of 37,481 international visitors entered Bhutan in 2011 representing a 38 per cent increase from the 27,196 in 2010. Of those 2,795 were British compared to 772 from the previous year – an increase of 1,023.
