Thomas Cook Airlines’ inaugural flight from Gatwick Airport to Barbados has departed during a Bajan carnival event. The weekly flight from Gatwick joins three-times weekly flights to Barbados from Manchester.

Quarter three statistics for 2016 shows that visitors to the island are continuing to spend and contribute to the economic growth of Barbados. This is according to The Caribbean Tourism Organisation’s quarterly exit survey for the period July to September, 2016.
Air France expands network to Barbados
Air France will be offering up to two weekly flights to Barbados from Paris-Orly with a connection in Pointe à Pitre or Fort de France. The flights from Pointe à Pitre and Fort de France to Barbados will be offered on a code-share basis with Air Antilles and operated by ATR 72 and ATR42. On these flights, the company’s customers will also earn Miles as part of the Flying Blue loyalty program.
Sandals breaks ground on Barbados expansion
Sandals Resorts International has broken ground on a multi-million dollar expansion of its Dover Beach property in Barbados, marking the commencement of the construction of an additional 222 rooms and suites. Dubbed Sandals Barbados “Phase II”, this expansion when complete in November 2017, will add to the existing 280-room count and firmly place the property as the largest Sandals resort in the Eastern Caribbean.
Barbados to welcome new Condor Munich flight this winter
The team at Barbados Tourism Marketing has confirmed Condor Airlines will launch a new service to the destination this winter 2016. The new Saturday flight, from of Munich, Germany, will bring the number of weekly services to the island to three.

Barbados reports record overseas visitor numbers for early 2015
During the first six months of 2015 Barbados recorded 303,592 long stay visitors, the first time the destination has ever topped 300,000 visitors in the January-June period in the 29 years of recording air arrivals tourism statistics. This also represents a 14.3 per cent increase or 37,945 more passenger arrivals over the comparative period in 2014.
New appointment for Barbados Tourism Marketing in UK
Former Mount Gay Distilleries brand manager Marc McCollin has been appointed as the new senior business development officer in the UK office of the Barbados Tourism Marketing. McCollin’s appointment came into effect earlier, starting with a two week orientation in Barbados before taking up his official post in the UK.
Barbados Tourism Marketing appoints new chief executive
Following the announcement of Barbados’ two new divisions of tourism - the Barbados Tourism Marketing and the Barbados Tourism Product Authority – the BTMI has confirmed the appointment of a prominent new chief executive and an industry-leading team of global directors. William Griffith has been appointed chief executive of the organisation and commenced his role earlier. An industry veteran, Griffith brings his vast experience in tourism back to Barbados, having been a member of the leadership team in a number of hotel properties in both Barbados and Bermuda.
Barbados announces launch of new tourism divisions
The island of Barbados has announced its newest divisions of tourism affairs, the Barbados Tourism Marketing and the Barbados Tourism Product Authority. Built as a reform to the original Barbados Tourism Authority, the new divisions will work together to transform the current tourism landscape creating a bold new organisation focused on keeping the island top of mind in the dynamic and ever-changing tourism industry.
