American Airlines and China’s Hainan Airlines announce joint cooperation
American Airlines and Beijing-based Hainan Airlines have signed an agreement to codeshare on each other’s flights and to offer their frequent flyer members new opportunities to earn and redeem miles/points, while providing new growth opportunities for American in China and for Hainan Airlines in the United States.

Alec Baldwin – star of American comedy 30 Rock – has been kicked off an American Airlines flight in the United States for playing popular online game Words with Friends. Baldwin was returning from hosting the People for the American Way 30th anniversary celebration at the Beverly Wilshire hotel in Los Angeles when the incident occurred.
oneworld seeks to reassure passengers following AA bankruptcy
American Airlines stressed earlier that it remains part of oneworld after its parent company AMR Corporation voluntarily filed for Chapter 11 reorganisation under United States law. American said it expects to continue normal business operations throughout the reorganisation process - with normal flight schedules operating, tickets and reservations honoured as usual, along with normal refunds and exchanges.
American Airlines finally enters bankruptcy proceedings
AMR Corporation, parent company to American Airlines, has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in the United States as it seeks to return to profitability. AMR, which also operates American Eagle, took the decision after the failure of the latest round of cost-cutting labour negotiations and is the last of the major American carriers to seek such protection.
