Japan Airlines has led the world in on-time performance, according to OAG, a provider of flight information. Some 85 per cent of the carrier’s flights arrived on time last year, closely followed by All Nippon Airways, with 84 per cent, and Delta Air Lines, on 83 per cent.
ANA has announced its collaboration with wine connoisseur, Ned Goodwin, to create its very own duo of bespoke wines. The airline will offer a smooth red wine and a crisp white, both of which have been perfectly designed for optimum in-flight enjoyment.
ANA and Vietnam Airlines will launch a codeshare partnership at the beginning of their 2016 winter schedules, commencing on Sunday. The codeshare partnership will initially cover ten international routes, linking Japan and Vietnam. In addition, it will link 25 principal domestic routes in both countries. This will allow passengers to travel more conveniently throughout the region.
Boeing and All Nippon Airways have celebrated the delivery of the airline’s 50th 787 Dreamliner during a ceremony at Boeing’s Everett Delivery Centre. The milestone marks yet another record for ANA as it becomes the world’s first airline to operate 50 787 Dreamliners. “The 787 Dreamliner has played a significant role in opening up new routes into new markets, while also forming the backbone of our long-haul fleet,” said Osamu Shinobe, president, ANA.
In a rare bright spot for the beleaguered aircraft, European plane maker Airbus has won a deal to sell three A380 superjumbo jets to ANA Holdings. Japan’s biggest carrier will pay roughly $1.25 billion for the planes.
Two more ANA planes will be decorated with Star Wars characters as part of an agreement with The Walt Disney Company. BB-8, a brand new character from Star Wars: The Force Awakens, which is scheduled for theatrical release in December 2015, will be displayed on the livery of the BB-8 ANA Jet, a Boeing 777-300ER. ANA also announced the Star Wars ANA Jet, which will showcase both BB-8 and R2-D2 on the outside of a Boeing 767-300.
All Nippon Airways will introduce the Boeing 787-9 on international routes, beginning with the Haneda-Munich route on May 5th. Introduction of the extended Dreamliner will streamline operational costs and drive continued growth for ANA, and will also provide with it a suite of upgrades to the in-flight entertainment system, in line with the airline’s commitment to providing the highest levels of comfort and convenience to its customers.
All Nippon Airways will introduce a Star Wars livery, with the iconic R2-D2, on its newest aircraft 787-9 Dreamliner to mark the beginning of a five-year agreement with Walt Disney. This marks the first time a Star Wars character will appear on the exterior of a commercial aircraft.
Boeing and All Nippon Airways have finalised an order for 40 widebody airplanes as part of the airline’s strategic long-haul fleet renewal plan. The order, valued at approximately $13 billion at list prices, was originally announced as a commitment in March.
All Nippon Airways passengers are now able to purchase internet access on-board selected international flights using the new ANA Wi-Fi Service. Passengers will be able to use their own devices, such as smartphone or tablet, to surf the web, access e-mail and update social networks including Facebook and Twitter and more.
All Nippon Airways and Garuda Indonesia, the flag-carrier airline of Indonesia, have announced a comprehensive partnership under which the two airlines will codeshare on flights between the two countries. The deal will also allow passengers to be able to collect and redeem miles on Frequent Flyer Program of both airlines.
All Nippon Airways has announced a new service between London and Tokyo Haneda Airport, in response to growing demand for the route. The new route follows the news from the Japan National Tourism Organisation that the country looks set to hit the ten million visitor mark by the end of 2013.
