Emirates officially introduces services to Da Nang and Siem Reap via Bangkok
Emirates, the world’s largest international airline, has expanded its East Asia footprint to 23 points with the launch of two new routes via Bangkok - Da Nang, Vietnam and Siem Reap, Cambodia. These launches mark a significant milestone in the airline’s broader strategy to deepen connectivity to the region during a period of rapid growth and innovation in travel and trade. The inaugural flights to Da Nang on 2 June and Siem Reap on 3 June were celebrated with traditional water cannon salutes and warm welcomes from government dignitaries and airport officials. Emirates’ leadership teams inaugurated services at each destination.

For the first time in 28 years, Qatar Airways signs a landmark agreement with leading local Qatari Banks led by QNB to provide QAR 4.5 billion in strategic financing. The financing will be provided by domestic banks in Qatar. The syndication was fully underwritten and led by QNB Group as the sole and exclusive Book Runner, Global Coordinator, Initial Mandated Lead Arranger and Structuring Bank, while the lending banks include Ahlibank, Commercial Bank, Doha Bank, Dukhan Bank, QIB, and QIIB.

IATA CO2 Connect Integrated into the Amadeus Travel Platform
The International Air Transport Association (IATA) and Amadeus are integrating flight-specific emissions data from IATA CO2 Connect in the Amadeus Travel Platform. This will allow airlines, travel agents, corporate travel managers, and online platforms that request IATA CO2 Connect data to provide travelers with a new source of trusted emissions data at the point of booking. IATA CO2 Connect uses real operational data, such as aircraft type-specific fuel consumption, directly contributed by over 70 airlines and calculated using a globally standardized methodology.
GOL, TAP Adopt IATA FuelIS to Deliver Long-Term Fuel Savings
The International Air Transport Association (IATA) announced that GOL and TAP Air Portugal have become the first airlines to use IATA FuelIS—an advanced analytics solution designed to help airlines optimize fuel consumption. IATA’s net-zero carbon emissions roadmap (pdf) highlights that technology and operational efficiency improvements—which directly lower fuel consumption—are expected to contribute to about 10% of the emissions reduction in 2050*.
