EADS bounces back into profit
European aerospace giant EADS – which owns aircraft manufacturer Airbus – has bounce back into profit for financial 2010. As airplane orders increased, despite concerns of the rising price of aviation fuel, EADS reported net profits of €553 million, compared with a loss of €763 million the previous year.
Cathay Pacific sees profits rise, orders planes
Cathay Pacific had announced its second major aircraft order in six months after revealing record profits earlier. The Hong Kong-based carrier ordered 27 planes from both Airbus and Boeing in deals which could eventually be worth as much as $6.55 billion.

The World Trade Organization is expected to rule today that huge subsidies paid to Boeing since the early 1990s are illegal. About $24bn of aid was masked as defence research, the EU claims, and comes a year after the WTO issued a similar ruling condemning Brussels for providing subsidies to Airbus.
