Avianca-TACA confirms eco-efficient order from Airbus
Avianca-TACA has signed a purchase agreement with Airbus for 51 eco-efficient aircraft, including 33 A320neo and 18 A320 aircraft, in a bid to become the youngest fleet in Latin America and reduce its environmental impact. The A320neo model incorporates the latest generation engines and large “Sharklet” wing tip devices, which together will deliver 15 per cent in fuel savings.
Airbus takes AviancaTaca order for 51 aircraft
AviancaTaca, which includes subsidiary AeroGal of Ecuador, has signed a purchase agreement for 33 Airbus A320neo and 18 A320 family aircraft. The new aircraft will support AviancaTaca’s expansion into new markets in Latin America, while keeping the airline’s fleet among the youngest in the region.
Hong Kong Airlines takes delivery of all Club Class Airbus A330-200
Hong Kong Airlines has taken delivery of its first all Club Class Airbus A330-200 passenger aircraft ahead of the launch of the flagship London route, and the first of 30 Airbus A320s to operate within Asia. From March 8th, Hong Kong Airlines will launch a daily non-stop service between London and Hong Kong.
Record year at European aviation giant Airbus
Airbus delivered a total of 534 commercial aircraft to 88 customers and booked 1,419 net orders in 2011, making it the most successful year in the company’s history. Last year also marked tenth in a row which saw a production increase at the aviation giant.
Airbus delivers 7,000th aircraft to industry
Airbus’ delivery of its 7,000th aircraft marked a new achievement as the company continues to accelerate the production output of its single-aisle and widebody jetliners in meeting demand from a widening global customer base. The delivery was very appropriately a member of the A320 Family, which is one of the world’s best-selling commercial aircraft product lines – with over 4,900 provided from the more than 8,250 ordered by 340-plus customers around the globe.
Hong Kong Airlines outlines expansion plans
Hong Kong Airlines is to acquire more than 50 new aircraft over the next four years, as part of a major expansion of its operations on international and Chinese domestic routes. Together with its sister carrier, Hong Kong Express, the carrier currently operates a fleet of 18 aircraft – eight wide-bodied Airbus A330-200s and ten narrow bodied Boeing 737s – to 23 destinations in China, north and southeast Asia and Moscow.
Airbus asserts A320 dominance in Dubai
Airbus has won a total of 211 orders and commitments at the 12th Dubai Airshow worth US$20.5 billion, underlining outstanding demand for the A320neo. The order intake includes 135 firm orders worth US$13.7 billion and 76 memorandum of understanding worth US$6.8 billion.
Qatar Airways inks Airbus deal in Dubai
Qatar Airways has selected the A320neo as the reference aircraft for expanding its short- to medium-haul fleet and has increased its order for the A380. The agreement signed at the 2011 Dubai Airshow, is a firm contract for 50 A320neo aircraft and five additional A380s.
Airbus and Boeing sign up for Global Aerospace Summit
Airbus and Boeing, the two largest aviation manufacturers, have confirmed their positions as foundation partners of Global Aerospace Summit 2012. To be held in Abu Dhabi from April 16th-19th, the event is an invitation only forum bringing together international senior executives from across the aerospace, aviation and space sectors.
Airbus sees A350 schedule pushed back six months
Airbus has pushed back the expected delivery date of the first A350 – its answer to the Boeing Dreamliner – by six months. The decision, which cost €200 million in charges, hit profits for the third quarter, but Airbus nonetheless beat expectations for the period.
JetBlue concludes deal for 40 Airbus A320neo
American low-cost carrier JetBlue has concluded negotiations for 40 new A320neo planes with Airbus. With this contract, JetBlue also converts 30 of its pre-existing orders for A320s to the larger A321 model with enhanced wingtip devices called Sharklets.
Airbus prepares for launch of A350 with new Welsh plant
Airbus has opened a new manufacturing plant at Broughton, Flintshire, Wales as it gears up for production of the new A350 – its answer to the Boeing Dreamliner. The £400 million facility will produce carbon-fibre wings for the new aircraft, which is due to enter service in 2013.
