Airbus delivers first Airbus A320neo to Lufthansa

Lufthansa, together with Airbus and the Pratt & Whitney engine manufacturer, is celebrating the delivery of the world’s first Airbus A320neo. Carsten Spohr, Lufthansa chairman, Airbus president Fabrice Brégier and the president of Pratt & Whitney, Robert Leduc, invited 700 guests and media representatives to the official delivery at Hamburg-Finkenwerder.

Iran officials have signed two agreements with Airbus covering new aircraft orders and a comprehensive civil aviation co-operation package. The agreements were signed at the Élysée Palace, Paris, during Iranian president Hassan Rouhani’s official visit to France with French president François Hollande. Iran Air has signed an agreement with Airbus for the acquisition of the full range of new Airbus airliners.

As part of its fleet renewal strategy, Gulf Air has announced a firm order of 29 A320neo Family. The new order includes 17 A321neo and 12 A320neo of which ten A320neo were initially confirmed in 2012. The contract was signed at the Bahrain International Airshow between Maher Salman Al Musallam, chief executive, Gulf Air, and Airbus president Fabrice Brégier.

BOC Aviation, the Singapore-based global aircraft leasing company owned by Bank of China, has announced an order for an additional 30 A320 Family aircraft, comprising 18 A320neo Family aircraft and 12 A320ceo Family aircraft. “This order underscores our continued confidence in the reliability and operational efficiency of the A320 family aircraft, and reflects its popularity among our customers for short- and medium-haul routes,” said Robert Martin, managing director, BOC Aviation.

TAP Portugal has signed a firm order with Airbus for 53 Widebody and single aisle aircraft including 14 A330-900neo, and 39 A320neo Family aircraft (15 A320neos and 24 A321neos). The aircraft will join TAP Portugal’s fleet as part of its fleet renewal announced by the airline’s new majority owner Atlantic Gateway.

Vietnamese carrier Vietjet has placed a firm order with Airbus for the purchase of 30 more A321s – totalling nine A321ceo and 21 A321neo. The order was signed at the Dubai Airshow by Vietjet president and chief executive, Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao, and John Leahy, Airbus chief operating officer, customers.

The board of the International Airlines Group has firmed up orders for 19 additional wide-body and single aisle aircraft, including two A330-200s, two A330-300s and 15 A320neos. This latest agreement with IAG and its airlines takes their cumulative Airbus orders to a total of nearly 470 aircraft. The two A330-200s will be assigned to Iberia and the two A330-300s will be operated by Aer Lingus.

China Aviation Supplies signs 130 aircraft order with Airbus

China Aviation Supplies has signed an agreement with Airbus for the acquisition of 30 A330 Family aircraft and 100 A320 Family aircraft. The 30 A330s are the firm up of the commitment signed in June 2015. The GTA was signed in Beijing by Li Hai, president of CAS, and Fabrice Brégier, president of Airbus, in the presence of Chinese premier Li Keqiang and visiting German chancellor Angela Merkel.
